54-years old - more like 16 with a fake ID and a bad attitude! -- seriously proud father and granddad, and so proud of my offspring I could burst! (but really hope I don't!... that'd be ... just... weird, yknow?!)
Deeply in love and
So… in case I wasn’t clear enough, I lived through the Reagan years, and there were certain relatives in my beloved late father’s family that, due to their not following my Grandpa from Poland, wore the blue tattoo, and became a part of the Polish and German topsoil, I consider Palin’s beloved Saint Ronnie’s policies to be much the same… Reagan’s happy-talk, smiley-face disguise notwithstanding.
Been a tech support guy for a couple of decades, and it was kinda frustrating… tried to do the stuff with 3 different browsers, finally finding out it worked on the 4th, Opera… up until this morning. Don’t know what 3rd-party crap shows their ads, but it can’t be a whole lot different than most blogs. According to their admins, it’s 1 that’s causing the issues, and they can’t figure out which one. Then, this evening one of the commenters decided to get all snarky with sort of a “don’t you know how to reply to messages?” thing… yes, asshole… I do… and that’s the issue, it doesn’t work. Normally a nice guy, patient, and try to be better than that, but today’s not the day…
Yes, Palin… peace through strength and “Arbeit Macht Frei.” Have someone look that up for you sweetie… preferably someone who actually knows what it means, and who used it.
Also, using Reaganisms doesn’t help your case, dear… you’re further to the right than your beloved Saint Ronnie ever was, and he was smarter than you… not that that’s really saying much.
Aargh… just saying that Anonymous comment was me… been banging around among 4 different browsers trying to get Crooks & Liars’ blog to work the threading issue out… Opera did work with them, but now it doesn’t… apparently an issue with the 3rd-party advertisements is giving headaches.
Paging Mr. “I’m not a journalist, just a guy with opinions” Hannity… Paging Mr. “I’m not a journalist, just a guy with opinions” Hannity… You have a visitor who’s a PI with a subpoena… please report to the front desk…
Sorry, Aria… wasn’t really a question I asked of you, but rather a comment I made. I misspoke (in the truest sense, in that usually when folks say that, they’re really saying “I lied.” I guess he did take some precautions, or, as you say, he wouldn’t have made it as far as he did, but Fox has shown themselves to be tech-savvy enough to hack cellphones, so it’s reasonable to assume they have the means to check logs and such… most places don’t normally require their admins to scan all the logs without cause… buttload of data to pick through, and pretty time-consuming, but unless he was posting from a cellphone with the carrier’s stuff, it did have to go through Fox’s network, and that data’s stashed on the server.
And they’re still posting the crap… like an idiot, I decided to go check it out… now I really, really need a shower. Afterwards, I’m going to see if there’s another planet I can visit, because I’m really ashamed to say I share a common species and planet with these people.
Wonder how many of them will get called into their boss’s office in the morning with the boss having a few choice questions for them…
I think they’re going for the maximum charge the circumstances allow, hoping for a conviction on a lesser charge – rather like charging someone with trafficking in the hopes of a conviction on possession with intent to sell.
Even if he was using a private computer and an outside account, unless he was also using an outside connection, he still had to go through Fox’s servers… not the brightest thing to do…
Bless the man… can’t wait to read the history he’s sure to write… Ellen, that’s the thing I asked of Aria earlier… I’ve known and worked for and with a lot of brilliant people, but from their boneheadedness about IT concepts, you’d never known it… apparently he didn’t realize how simple it is to check server logs…
I’ll give an example – some years back, I was the one and only admin for the relatively small parent company of a large and rather famous corporation. The CEO’s secretary was a very sharp and smart young lady… wouldn’t have been in the position if she wasn’t. She called me in to try to clear a buttload of viruses on her machine, which little buggers were the result of a “fun” toolbar she’d installed on her browser. Took most of the day to clean the PC, and after explaining what it was that caused the issue, she asked me, “well, can I put it back on when you’re done?”
Says wonders for my patience and diplomatic skills that it was only my own forehead that I slapped…
And, gotta say that I’ve worked as an admin for a lot of companies, and lots of folks I’ve supported, while quite brilliant in all other respects, have been the biggest boneheads in existence with anything related to computers and IT concepts… again, just sayin’…
Aria, I would hope so… but, as the person went to work for Fox originally, not apparently in disagreement with their policies (I may be wrong, but the first article from the mole seems to indicate this), it’s not really a good case for his/her innate intelligence… just sayin’…
I do hope the mole has been using another account, and another set of servers than those at Fox… not all that difficult for a network admin to check the logs.
I’ve seen some folks on some other blogs trying to say Hannity’d never be subpoenaed, as he’s a journalist… it’ll be a hoot to watch some attorneys play the videos of Hannity denying he’s a journalist, just a guy with opinions…
If this was not such a horrible tragedy for the Martin family, it would be almost funny.
