Fox News is a testosterone infused man's world which proudly protests political correctness. And that's why it's considered "outrageous" that, OMG, Princeton has "banned" the word "man." Actually, that's not true; but in the macho world of Fox & Friends, who cares about truth?!
Saturday's segment began with the patented Fox graphic and the blaring police siren which warns Fox viewers that evil POLITICAL CORRECTNESS is about to be exposed. Sweet and very feminine Fox blonde, Anna Kooiman loudly announced that "they're coming for you, the PC police turning Princeton into a literal no man's land." The banner: 'No Man's Land: Princeton to Staff, Avoid Using Word "Man." She explained that a school language guide "urges employees to drop the world man in favor of more gender inclusive style guidelines." As she spoke, one of the male friends could be heard sighing.
She weakened the premise of the piece (word "man" is banned) as she further explained that the guidelines refer to sections of words. When she noted that "mankind" could be changed to human kind, she said "but wait isn't man in humankind." Paragon of white manliness, Tucker Carlson, introduced Fox propagandist, Koch Brother tool, and Princeton grad, Pete Hegseth.
Carlson said that "the first thing that jumps out" at him is "how frivolous and dumb this is." He credited Princeton with producing smart people but whined about how these guidelines "aren't relevant at all to educating kids." Naturally, a very intense Hegseth agreed: "This is the inevitable logic of PC. This is where PC leads. This is where every higher education institution is going This where our public institutions are going. Eventually, our administrations, they cave because the PC police, the multicultural police, the post modern secular anti-traditionalists, they win and say no more pronouns, no more him and her." (Lots of giggles at "no more pronouns.")
Clayton Morris read some of the suggestions which are just so radical - like substituting "ancestors for forefathers" and "camera operator" for "camerman." (Cuz we no that women can't operate cameras, amiright?) He whined that "you run out of a lexicon" and asked "where does it end." The banner: "Unfit for 'Prince'ton, School Wipes Out Male Leaning Language." (FACT CHECK - THIS IS A GUIDELINE, PRINCETON IS NOT WIPING OUT LANGUAGE!) He continued: "It's absurdity. It's the logic of the left..."
Carlson chimed in: "It's also an attack on openness, free inquiry and plurality." (Hallmarks of Fox News, just kidding!) He accused Princeton of denying students the right to expand their minds by forcing them to use this language. (FACT CHECK - THE NON-MANDATORY GUIDELINES ARE FOR FACULTY AND STAFF.) The banner summed up the sum of all Fox fears: "Schools of Conflict, Is Masculinity Under Attack at US Colleges." (Let's hope so ;) ) Hegseth urged alumni and donors to stop "blindly" giving money to Princeton. He continued to attack Princeton for trying to destroy pronouns and described it as "a left wing cesspool of political correctness."
If you want a textbook example of how Fox News takes something totally innocuous, in this case gender neutral language (and evil Ivy League colleges), and distorts it into something sinister in order to fit a right wing propaganda meme, this is it. And one more thing - While Princeton is trying to destroy masculinity, we can feel secure in the knowledge that it's safe at Fox News - where real men rule!
