In whining about the horrors of the Obama administration's new guidelines on treatment of transgender students, the anti-LGBT right argues that the guidelines are unconstitutional. So it comes as no surprise that Fox news has validated that argument in at least two recent Fox & Friends interviews with Texans who are fighting the good fight!
On Sunday's Fox & Friends, proud gay basher Tucker Carlson was in full agreement with Ken Paxton on what the indicted TX Attorney-General considers to be Obama's unconstitutional violation of the separation of powers. In addition to the constitutional argument Carlson added that the guidelines are ridiculous because those who are transgender are, according to science, just making it all up.
Monday morning, the constitutional argument was advanced and validated by Steve Doocy who interviewed TX Governor Greg Abbott. Doocy began the segment by bashing the President: "No state in the union has slammed the Obama administration's new transgender guidelines more that Texas." The section of Tucker Carlson's conversation, with the indicted Texas Attorney General, was shown during which Ken Paxton claimed that the administration is "unilaterally changing the law." Doocy provided the validation: "And that's what they're doing." In introducing his guest, TX Governor Greg Abbott, Doocy advanced the right wing narrative when he described Abbott as a man who is "fighting the president" who is trying "to rewrite civil rights."
Doocy continued to advance the propaganda in the form of a question: "What is going on with this North Carolina thing and with the administration saying unless states are involved with this transgender bathroom thing, we're gonna withhold money." An animated Abbot ranted about how Texas is "fighting back" because Obama is turning "the Constitution on its head." After Doocy asked "why is this happening now," (Because North Carolina passed a bill that is intentionally discriminatory towards transgender students) Abbott ranted about Obama's attempt to cram his "liberal agenda" down the throats of decent Americans. More validation from Doocy: "I think you're exactly right." Abbott ranted about a constitutional tipping point and the evils of Hilary Clinton.
The conversation then turned to Abbott's new book.
Obviously, there are arguments in favor of the guidelines - but, funny, it doesn't seem like Fox & Friends is all that interested. Funny, I thought that Fox News was "fair & balanced...."
