Brian Kilmeade is outraged about the planned removal of "great president" Andrew Jackson from the front of the $20, only to be replaced with a black woman. And just to let you know that black folks have his back, he enlisted "conservative black chick" Crystal Wright for validation of this Democratic "pander."
Last week, Kilmeade reported on the Treasury Department's decision to replace Andrew Jackson will be replaced with Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. (He didn't mention that Jackson's image will be on the back of the bill, next to an image of the White House.) He added, "and by the way, also a war hero." In referencing the collective right wing hysteria (big on Fox Nation) over this change to a bill that has been changed a number of times in our history, he spoke of concern over "this ousting of a past president who has done so much in the founding of our country is an unbelievable sign of disrespect."
He introduced his guest, Crystal Wright, who runs the blog "Conservative Black Chick" and who, as Newshounds Ellen describes her, is "a Fox News designated black attacker" - a description borne out by Wright's comments, on Fox, that the Democratic party has made black people "dumber" and that the GOP should ignore African-Americans because they have shown "a slavish support" for Democrats. She has also scolded blacks for having children out of wedlock.
Kilmeade asked Wright for her take and added, just to show that he's really not the bigot that we know him to be, that Tubman was "certainly a great American." Wright said that while she "loves Harriet Tubman," we "shouldn't be changing the face of money because Democrats are offended by history." (The real offense is the "Trail of Tears" but that doesn't seem to be an issue for Fox!) She accused Democrats of "using our currency as a political weapon to pander to their constituency."
Kilmeade gushed over the awesomeness of Jackson who is "a key member of America." While Wright didn't "agree with everything Andrew Jackson did," she doesn't agree with everything Obama does. (Huh?) She accused the Treasury Secretary of being "forced by liberals, the leftists, we have to have a woman on the currency so they can pander to their constituents." She said that Tubman has been honored and that in 1990, President George W. Bush "declared Harriet Tubman day." (In a brilliant take-down of Wright, and the right wing hysteria over this bill change, Trevor Noah points out, below, that this was just one day only and not a continuing event.)
Kilmeade claimed that "there's a huge problem when we are trying to judge our founding fathers instead of hailing what they accomplished and understanding what they have to do with how we got here." Wright whined about how Alexander Hamilton was spared the treasury ax because of the Broadway musical. After alluding to Jackson's slave owning and theft of land from Native-Americans, she lamented, "When will this end, this endless obsession with Democrats over political correctness?" Kilmeade continued to praise Jackson and Wright whined about how Black Lives Matters wants to remove Confederate memorials in her home town of Richmond, Virginia.
At one point, Kilmeade said that "we run from our history." Funny, looks like Fox & Friends is leading the way.
