As an example of how white folks are the real victims of hate crimes, Fox News has not only made a martyr out of Christopher Marquez, allegedly assaulted by "racist," black teens, it is even helping to raise money for Marquez who just might not be the shiny white hero that Fox is making him out to be.
Two arrests have been made in connection with the case. But for Marquez, that's not enough. Tuesday, he reappeared on Fox & Friends where he complained that those arrested were not charged with a hate crime. Again, Marquez asserted that he was targeted "because of his skin color." (actually he's Hispanic). He whined that he "should get the same type of protection as other people in this country as well and we all know if this was the other way around, it would be considered a hate crime automatically. And it was a hate crime because they did target me because of my skin color." After we were informed that the Go-Fund-Me account is now up to $34,000, Marquez effused that "all this support and love, it's truly awesome and it just shows why America is truly the greatest country in the world."
And in addition (and thanks to?) Fox's free publicity, Marquez has received a job offer from Brent Bozell who runs the Media Research Center and who is very upset that the mainstream media has, as whined by Fox's Bret Baier, ignored this important story. Bozell has let the word go forth that Marquez is "more than welcome" to work at the MRC!
So it's all good, right? Not really. It seems that during the time that Marquez was pleading his case on Fox, a witness has come forward. According to a local Fox News affiliate, the witness told the police that when the teens asked Marquez if black lives matter, it was after Marquez said "excuse me, (N-word), " as he walked by the teens. According to this witness, Marquez "smelled like he had been drinking." The witness also stated that one of the teens aske Marquez if he was a racist. When Marquez responded, "no, I'm not," the accused said "we can fight like men outside."
One does wonder if Fox will report the latest updates. And, if Marquez's story is proven to be correct, one wonders if he will fall from grace in the same way that former Fox heroes James O'Keefe and Cliven Bundy did after they were discredited. So while Fox News lives in a world of black and white, reality informs us that there are lots of shades of gray...
First off, being “Hispanic” is every bit as much a “privilege” when it comes to a job application as being “African-American.” When he applies for a job and gets to the “ethnicity” box, if he checks the “Hispanic” (or “Latino”) box, that can give him a leg up on other applicants who can only check “White” (or “Caucasian”).
And then, there’s the biggie—especially for a job with a government agency—his status as a “veteran.” He’s (allegedly) a Marine* and, for any civil service exam, he gets some major points for that. I’ve applied for a few civil service jobs in the past—at local, state and Federal levels—and every one of them, on the test portion, has stated that military service automatically adds points for that test; someone who’s never served but scores a “straight” 95 can lose out to someone who scored a 76 but gets 20 bonus points for military service. AND, on top of that, if he’s called up for active duty from his regular job—no matter how long his deployment lasts—that job will be waiting for him when he comes back (meanwhile, the person hired to replace him has no guarantee that he’ll be able to continue working after the serviceman returns; even worse, the replacement may be required by the company to bring the serviceman back up to speed on any changes that may have happened during his deployment). The other workers, however, get no such protection for their jobs—if they need time off and the boss says “No,” they risk being fired if they take off that time (and, in most states, it’s very doubtful that they’ll get unemployment in such a case).
So. He’s a Latino who served in the Marines. But conservatives don’t seem bothered with HIS benefiting from affirmative action. (Unless, of course, he were also a Democrat.)
Conservatives are convinced blacks are getting away with things because they’re black. Affirmative action takes whites’ jobs. Here blacks get better justice. And, of course, thanks to Rush building the mythology of the Cadillac driving black Welfare queens, they’re living high on the hog off white America’s wallets.
So sad Kilmeade and his new best friend, the drunk, weren’t born black so they could have lived the good life too! 😉
