I sometimes wonder if Fox & Friends is just trolling its viewers. Surely Anna Kooiman doesn't believe that crossed beams of light are a sign from Jesus and - wait for it - a 20 month old baby says "amen" after family mealtime grace?!
On yesterday's Fox & Friends, Fox's most bubbling, blonde Christian told us about a baby who "is an internet sensation." She showed yet another Christian "viral" (like the light "cross" thing) video of a 20 month old baby holding hands with both parents as they said grace. After the grace was over, the baby made a sound. The baby's vocalization could have been excitement over forthcoming food; but the parents and Fox & Friends interpret it as an "amen." That Fox was taking this all very seriously was evident in the banner, stated as fact: "Amen, Baby Says Grace With Family, Goes Viral."
Flashing a great big grin, Kooiman reacted: "Amen, you're never too young to say grace, just ask baby Eloise." Kooiman just oozed Christian pleasure as she described the video, showing how the baby, "joining hands with the family in prayer before dinner, took *over the internet." ( Babies hold hands with adults because it makes them feel good - not because they're praying) The banner proclaimed "Manners of a Saint, Baby Joins Hands With Her Parents Over Prayer" as Kooiman introduced the parents who had baby Eloise and their other daughter with them.
As baby Eloise squirmed and fussed, John Incorvaia spoke about their tradition of saying grace. The banner kept the theatrics going: "Amen, Baby Says Grace With Family, Goes Viral." Working in the requisite Fox Christian proselytizing, Jesus BFF, Kooiman asked "why is this important for you and your family to hold hands and take a moment and thank the good lord for all the blessings throughout the day before you sit down and eat your meal." John's wife, Elizabeth, said that they do this because they want their children to love God. Baby Eloise kept making baby noises (maybe she was praying?) and squirming.
At this point, both kids were quite agitated so Kooiman thanked the parents for "inspiring us" and informed us that Eloise "can now kneel on the floor and say her evening prayers and that is so sweet too."
Meanwhile, in the world of reality, '"a typical 20-month-old has a spoken vocabulary of about 12-15 words" and understands a few basic concepts such as the location of her favorite toys. To say that she is praying is pious baloney.
Please tell me that Fox and its audience don't really believe this stuff....Wait, what....
