While many Americans, of all colors, were deeply moved by our President's tribute to the assassinated Rev. Clementa Pinckney, Todd Starnes had a different perspective.
If Starnes stepped away from his biscuits and gravy, he might try doing a little research because if he did, he would learn that there have been a number of well researched studies which show that black sounding names can be a detriment in a job search. The National Bureau of Economic Research, hardly a commie pinko hotbed, states that "a job applicant with a name that sounds like it might belong to an African-American - say, Lakisha Washington or Jamal Jones - can find it harder to get a job. Despite laws against discrimination, affirmative action, a degree of employer enlightenment, and the desire by some businesses to enhance profits by hiring those most qualified regardless of race, African-Americans are twice as likely as whites to be unemployed and they earn nearly 25 percent less when they are employed."
And that's what Pres. Obama was referencing. But for Starnes, whose views on race aren't all that different from Dylann Roof, this was "playing the race card."
You just can't make this crap up!
