During the days of possible nuclear Armageddon, folks were advised to build fall-out shelters. In 2014 the danger isn't from nuclear bombs - but Islamic terrorists who threaten our very existence. At least that's what Fox News claims in its ongoing campaign to play into the deepest fears of the paranoid, American right But last night, Fox brought its be-very-afraid message to a whole, new, screaming batshit crazy level with what could have been a great SNL sketch - only in this case it was very real. Washed up GOP hack and rabidly partisan Judge Jeanine Pirro surpassed her usual level of looniness. In advancing the newest Fox fear that ISLAMIC TERRORISTS ARE GOING TO KILL US ALL, she hosted a former Navy Seal who provided advice on how to protect yourself from a terror attack. No, I'm not kidding. I wish I were...
Pirro began with the fear factor: "And now that we know that we are at risk from terror attacks, we need to start playing defense, so what can you do to protect yourself and your family from terror attacks." She introduced former Navy Seal Larry Yatch who proceeded to tell us how to be safe.
Yatch, drawing on his Navy Seal experience, said "it's all about the mindset." (How very Zen?) He advised people to "learn" how to defend themselves and perform first aid. He emphasized having "a plan of action" so you know "what to do and where to go." He talked about the necessary equipment such as the "go bag" which, I guess, should be taken with you at all times. As he listed the contents of the bag, he showed examples from his handy-dandy visual aid table. He listed the necessary components of the bag: water, food, first aid, sneakers (in case you work in heels), batteries and charging units for your mobile devices (what happens when the signal towers are bombed?) defense items such as a flashlight (doubles as a weapon) and a sharp knife.
Following Yatch's segment, Pirro read her viewer's reaction to her comments, from Saturday night, about how America is not prepared for a domestic attack. She read comments from her viewers which consisted of mostly (surprise, surprise) being "locked and loaded" and ready to shoot. And for good measure, there was some Obama bashing.
Who cares about planning for weather disasters when we need to be VERY AFRAID OF TERRORIST ATTACKS. But when the terrorists break in which, at that point, means that our military has failed and we are living in a dystopian world, we now know what to do. Thank you Fox News and Larry Yatch.
BTW, Yatch's website "Sealed Mindset" has a photo of a flashlight, a knife, and a Glock. He didn't mention that on Pirro's show....
“This is yet another on-air audition from the “Judge” in her quest to replace Greta Van Suckup in Fux Noise prime time. Van Suckup should consult with the “Judge’s” plastic surgeon for her next facelift.”
LOL! Actually truman, I honestly don’t think that’s really necessary. Did you notice in the video how Pirro was dressed? In my opinion, I think the ONLY two things Greta Van Suckup needs to do is show more of her legs and a little of her cleavage just like Pirro does.
;^)
As far as “teaching” people how to “defend” themselves from a terror attack, he’s full of crap. By its very definition, a “terror attack” is going to happen with NO advance warning. Most public places are going to not simply ask, but DEMAND, to check any bag large enough to carry all his “recommended” supplies. And the damn things are going to be pretty difficult to carry into places where terror actions are going to happen. You think you’re going to take that bag through airport security? You think you’re going to take that bag with you into a major sporting event or concert? You think you’re going to take that bag into a place like Macy’s or even Wal-Mart without it being checked? Once you’ve been turned away while carrying the bag, you’re going to be much less likely to try carrying it anywhere. And what good will it do you sitting in your car when some group of terrorists decide to swarm a mall?
