If, as the saying goes, you're known by the company you keep, Sean Hannity's support for bigots says a lot about him. One of Hannity's new BFF's is Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson who, in addition to his claim that Louisiana African-Americans were happy during the brutal years of Jim Crow, told Vanity Fair that homosexuality is like bestiality. When A&E temporarily suspended Robertson for his ignorant and bigoted comments, Fox News immediately rallied round Robertson who, according to Fox talkers, was just using his 1st Amendment right to express his "biblical" opinion. Recently, Robertson shared his Christian gospel and sociological perspective to an Alabama audience. One assumes that if a liberal disparaged Tea Party members or recommended underage sex, Hannity would be verclempt; but he obviously has no problem with Robertson's latest bit of hateful ignorance.
Under the category of whoops, he did it again, Phil Robertson treated those at the "Rock the South" festival, in Cullman Alabama, to the world according to Phil. He defended his controversial Vanity Fair comments: I'm actually a nice man. … I'm trying to help those poor souls and turn them to Jesus." But then it got even more interesting when he proffered advice, for men, on marriage. In recommending that men seek out young women, really young women, he said the following: You don’t wait for ‘em to be 20 yrs old to marry ‘em. That’s too old.” (This comment was just another iteration of another Robertson pearl of wisdom made earlier this year: “Look, you wait till they get to be 20 years old the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They’ll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course.”)
Obviously, for Hannity, Robertson's biblical homophobia is not a problem because, as he said to two conservative Catholic priests during his program, "homosexuality is a sin, right?" One wonders what Hannity thinks about Robertson's recommendations that older men seek out teen girls for marriage given the Hannity is a big supporter of Lila Rose whose campaign against Planned Parenthood largely rests on sting videos of women, seeking abortions, who tell clinic workers that they are under 18 and are having sex with older men. The videos are part of Rose's claim that Planned Parenthood doesn't report statutory rape. But I guess if older guys marry them it's OK...
Anyway, rather than "palling around with terrorists," which is what Sarah Palin accused the President of doing, Sean Hannity pals around with ignorant homophobes who think sex with teenage girls is fine. Oh, wait, it's biblical. Never mind....
The Stop Hannity Express media partners will run with this story. Hannocchio better have an explanation for this explosive gem.
Merri Jill better pray that hubby won’t take Duckman’s advice.
