As a fine son of the South who loves Jesus and anything deep fried, Todd Starnes' delicate sensibilities are quite offended by men who flaunt their deviancy by donning women's attire and struting their stuff, as did the fabulous cast of Kinky Boots during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. When Toddles found out about that, he had himself a case of the vapors. This week, he seemed nearly overcome with dainty disgust over what has what has to be one of the most delicious (and fabulous) municipal mistakes, the town of Semmes, Alabama ever made. For some strange reason, the town's annual holiday parade included a team of African-American dancing drag queens. Suffice to say, many of the Christian residents were, I do declare, chagrinned and appalled as was Todd Starnes who, during a "war on Christmas" segment, on Hannity, had more vapors!
Toddles read an account from a local paper which described the men's tight white shorts and their "thrusting" dance movements with "elaborate hip movements." Video of an outraged parent was shown. When right wing talker and "Danish Pastry" aficionado David Webb, who is a "tolerance guy," expressed his outrage, Toddles definitely needed his fan and some sweet tea: "Lord, sweet mercy, this is south Alabama. This is Duck Dynasty country. Unless those guys were sporting long beards and cammo, stuff like that doesn't fly."
Funny, Toddles doesn't seem to be upset about the parade of scantily clad Victoria's Secret models on Fox & Friends. Go figure...
And thankfully, things have changed since the days when, according to Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson, blacks knew their place because if this mix-up had happened then, butch cammo clad dudes might have ensured that the dancers would never dance again...
And Antoinette, about what you suggested about Toad being comfortable in the South in the 1950s, I imagine he would have screamed the loudest when Elvis turned up on TV gyrating his hips to the “devil’s music.”
If those men were dyed blonde females-like the ones on Fox “News”-this wouldn’t be an issue for him.
Does Shoddy Toddy have gay family members? Inquiring minds want to know.
The dancers regularly show up in nearby Mobile. They’re booked there for New Year’s and Mardi Gras.
And what they were doing is no worse (at least “for the children”) than what you’d see from (all-female) cheerleading squads at pro football games every Sunday afternoon (you know, the “Lord’s Day?”).
LOLOLOL. Out loud.
Gay or straight,
Dancing’s great!
