When I saw the Gawker headline, "Conservative News Site Displays Christmas Vagina," your humble Newshounds correspondent just had to follow up on this titillating title especially as it was linked to a Fox Nation thread. But my attempts to find the original Fox Nation thread, "An Angel Gets Sleighed on a Beach," were not successful because Fox Nation, not known for its sensitivity or prurience, appears to have deleted it. Was this topic too hot for Santa Ailes?
The Gawker thread had what appeared to be a screen grab of Fox Nation's twitter feed with this comment: "An 'Angel' Gets Sleigh'd on a Beach" with a link to a Fox Nation page which indicated that the "requested page could not be found." In googling the title of the apparently disappeared Fox Nation thread, I found it on TMZ complete with a photo of a fetching Victoria's Secret model who sported reindeer antlers and who was lying on the beach in a - uh - position that maximized her crotch which was barely covered by her bikini bottom. Tweets from other sources connect the TMZ title to Fox Nation but the links are dead-ends.
Given that Fox Nation's "pic of the day" occasionally features buxom, scantily clad women, it certainly could have been on Fox Nation. (The closest that Murdoch can get to "page three girls.") And Victoria's Secret models are quite popular on the Fox News network. But inquiring minds want to know why Fox Nation, which has no problem with threads that elicit racist and homicidal comments about the President, seems to have pulled this one. The Christian denizens of Fox Nation, who are offended by the merest mention of teh gay, do like their - uh - feminine pulchritude. So were the comments just too gross? Or given that the word for Santa's mode of transportation is a homonym (sorry about that Salvation Army "wringer" for ringer thing!) for a word that is a synonym for kill, were the comments violent? It's all very odd...
If it did exist, one hopes that Bill O'Reilly was able to see it before it was removed!
