As has been shown on numerous occasions, Fox Nation is not only a retrograde sewer that seeks to foster divisive base bigotry; but it also misrepresents articles to which it links in order to foster the bigotry. In many cases, the Fox Nation headline has nothing to do with the actual linked article but it is rather an incendiary expression of a right wing talking point that is carefully crafted to produce the requisite mouth breathing, knuckle dragging responses so popular with those good Christians on Fox Nation. Today's explosive headline, "Immigration Bill Gives Illegal Immigrants Full Voting Rights!," is a classic example of this propaganda technique that is straight out of Goebbels. The linked Politico article did not suggest that this would happen because - wait for it - it just isn't true! But truth is a stranger in the strange land of Fox Nation.
The article merely states that if the immigration proposal, now pending in congress, passes, it will add more Hispanics to the electorate and, given the demographic voting trends, it will probably mean "an electoral bonanza" for Democrats. The caveat is that this will happen in 10 years - when these undocumented folks gain citizenship and are eligible to vote. So the premise of the headline, that "illegal aliens" will be granted "full voting rights" is very misleading if not an outright lie as it implies that the bill will allow those without citizenship to vote.
But it's a classic example of Fox propaganda as it reinforces the anti-immigrant and anti-Hispanic bigotry of its readership (!?) which will, in turn, promote more opposition to a bill that the teabagging GOP base, Marco Rubio notwithstanding, are adamantly opposed to - the base that Fox News plays to and is beholden to - in other words, bigoted white conservatives who loathe the fact that there is a black man in the White House and that the immigration bill will mean those evil brown people will get to vote. Obviously, the bill doesn't give "illegal aliens" the right to vote but The Fox Nation headline tells them all they need to know. And notice that Fox Nation don't need no stinking AP Stylebook telling them that "illegal alien" is both inaccurate and demeaning.
In addition to sex, Roger Ailes knows full well that hate sells!
Headlines that include President Obama, Michelle Obama, AG Eric Holder, African-Americans, Hispanics, Liberals or Democrats are sure to stir up the turds into a frothy frenzy.
