When challenged about its claim of being "fair & balanced, Fox management said that Fox "opinion" shows were exempt from this claim - but that the actual "news" shows actually do "fair & balanced" coverage. While we know that Newsbusters, Brent Bozell's right wing hack site that exposes "liberal bias" no matter how obscure the media, is frequently sourced (Fox's, LOL, "Bias Alert" column) by the Fox News website, it is also sourced by Fox "news" shows that are supposedly "fair & balanced." This cozy relationship (albeit chaste, Christian, and heterosexual) has been seen on several occasions during Bret Baier's "news" show when he has given them, without noting their right wing bias, a shout out. And Tuesday night, he even described them, ROFLMAO, as a credible "media watcher" during his hit piece about CBS being in the tank for the president. Funny, if an MSNBC host acknowledged Media Matters, the Newsbusters would be all over it like - uh - flies on shit?!
Last year the alleged "fair & balanced" Bret Baier quoted from Newsbusters to support the anti-abortion meme that that the evil, librul media didn't provide sufficient coverage of the annual "March for Life." That same month, he also referenced a Newsbuster thread that claimed that a UNICEF ad showed a negative image of Santa Claus. And on Tuesday, Baier used his first "Grapevine segment" to report about how CBS's Steve Croft told CNN's Piers Morgan that President Obama is fond of appearing on CBS because "he knows that we're not going to play gotcha with him." Croft's comment was noted in a Fox Nation thread titled "CBS' Lame Explanation For Softball Obama-Clinton Interview." That the title was a Fox Nation (also allegedly "fair & balanced) editorial comment was seen in the fact that the AP sourced article provided background to Croft's interview with both President Obama and Hillary Clinton - with no commentary about lameness or softballs. Croft's comment was the subject of a Fox News website article, written by Noel Shephard, titled The transformation of '60 Minutes' -- now the place for swooning, softball interviews."
Baier addressed Croft's commentary and provided more exposure for his Newsbuster pal - wait for it -the aforementioned Noel Shephard. Baier said this: "Media watchers on the inside and outside are wondering why Sunday’s 60 Minutes interview with President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton was so soft. On CNN last night, Piers Morgan asked CBS’s Steve Kroft why President Obama keeps coming on 60 Minutes. Kroft said quote, 'I think it's a question of fairness. I think he knows that we’re not going to play gotcha with him, that we’re not going to go out of our way to make him look bad or stupid, and we'll let him answer the questions'."
Baier showed a visual with Shephard's quote: How proud the folks at CBS must be to know they’ve created an environment where the President of the United States feels comfortable coming on their network without any concern that he might be challenged and therefore look bad or stupid."
So not only does Bret Baier use his "fair & balanced" "news" format to advance Fox's News' advancement of a right wing meme (librul media soft on Obama) but he sources a rightwing partisan website to prove that "media watchers" (in this case just one - the right wing Newsbusters.) And what is really funny is that the Newsbusters crew are always whining about how librul media hosts never "label" their guests and sources as liberal. (One example) But Baier's homage to Newsbusters doesn't include labeling them as the right wing partisans that they are. Eww, sua maxima culpa, Bret?!
Fox News - "fair & balanced" - Ya think!
BTW, if you want to see a softball, kiss up interview, check out a clip from Bret Baier's interview with former Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld! NewsHounds summary here.
Fox News, however… continues to join Limbaugh and GBTV in proving that the right has no capacity in showing fairness to their opponents, or honesty to their viewers- unless someone makes them. Like our troll U Mad said (confessed?) about the subject on another thread:
“I won’t give your side a platform, because I don’t want to, and I don’t owe you anything. Thank God the rules making me are revoked!”
Before you go crying for 30 posts about how you didn’t use those exact words, U… look up what “paraphrase” means.
So, to sum up, her qualifications are — Looks (blonde/leggy), minimal brain activity, acts like a child (throwing temper tantrums), and is a media hog.
