Todd Starnes Exaggerates Community Enragement?

Posted by Priscilla 0.40pc on June 12, 2012 · Flag

In right wing Fox world, any perceived affront to the right wing community by those groups not beloved by the right wing is described in hyperbolic terms connoting extreme distress. "Outrage" is the usual term of endearment but Todd Starnes got creative and in his story about a graduation speech given in Spanish, he used the word "enrage" to describe the reaction of the local community. The title of his report is "Spanish Graduation Speech Enrages Community." He writes that "many people" were upset that the valedictorian gave his speech in Spanish. But the article that he links to, in the local press, states that the school principal has received positive as well as negative feedback. The negative feedback -"half a dozen or so calls" to the school department. Oh well, now that Starnes' article is on Fox Nation, that proud to be American community will certainly become enraged.

Do you think if he delivered a speech in Aramaic the Conservatives and Christian Right would be praising the fact that he spoke the language of Jesus? Oh Wait. I guess it would depend on how you pronounce Jesus. Since it would also apply here. Nevermind.

I find the act of this, oh look I’m a Smartypants, guy speaking in some ancient, and by all accounts lost, foreign language at a Valedictorian speech to be an Outrage. Valedictorian is an American word for an American Honor. Next thing you know he’ll be off to some hoity toity College where the Liberals have already basterdized American educational Honers with words like summa cum laude and magna cum laude. Magna? Really? What does that mean?" Look at me. I’m as smart as the stuff that spews out of a volcano." Something must be done about this foreignization of our Educational system.
Signed,
A loyal Fox Viewer

All kidding aside. I think it is great that he took the honor given to him and used it in a way he thought he would best like to express himself. Maybe if some future Fox viewer could raise his grades to the point of being Valedictorian he can say whatever thing he wants, and in good ole Amercian hillbilly. I wont hold my breath for this to ever happen though. Although Conservatives are trying to eliminate teachers to dumb down the electorate.
