Bill Hemmer Ramps Up The Fox News Witch Hunt Against Eric Holder By "Asking" If He Committed Treason

Reported by Ellen - November 11, 2011 -

Rather than doing any research or investigation, Fox News' "objective" host Bill Hemmer read a viewer's inflammatory question asking if Attorney General Eric Holder has committed treason - and then turned to the Republican guest for an answer. (H/T Aunty Em and Media Matters)

"Is this treason? What's the definition?" Hemmer asked. As he spoke, a Fox News banner read: "BECAUSE YOU ASKED Is Fast and Furious An Act Of Treason?"

Had Hemmer bothered to do a lick of research, rather than just give his Republican guest an opening to attack the Democratic Attorney General, he would have known - as Media Matters was able to find out from a simple online dictionary search - that the definition of treason is: "The offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family."

So has Holder done ANYTHING to overthrow the government? Hemmer didn't spend any time considering the answer. In fact, after asking such an inflammatory question, Hemmer didn't even demand that his guest answer it. Instead, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) skipped the "treason" part and went straight to discussing the possible impeachment of Holder.

Video via Media Matters which also noted this is just part of a larger picture of Fox News' "conspiratorial and irresponsible coverage" of the Fast and Furious scandal. We have also pointed out how Fox News' coverage has worked to promote the Republican message.

So I'm just wondering, is Fox News condoning murder?
