Michele Bachmann’s Extremism Gets Warm Reception From Neil Cavuto

Reported by Guest Blogger - November 4, 2011 -

On Your World yesterday (11/3/11), Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann spoke about everyone having "skin in the game" when it comes to paying taxes. That was her justification for her stance on the Earned Income Tax Credit. She said "I would do away with the EITC. If a person has $3 in income, they would be subject to something." But according to Think Progress, the EITC kept 3 million children out of poverty last year. But that didn’t seem to matter to host Neil Cavuto. He said he understood that “there’s something to be said” for everyone having “skin in the game” but asked how she’d accomplish her goal.

Later, Cavuto asked Bachmann, "Would you stop all bailouts, rescues, all of that?"

Yes. Bachmann said, "I would because I voted against the $700 billion bailout... We have to send a signal that we're going to get our house in order again, and we don't send that signal when we continually bail people out."

But as the Kansas City Star noted, bailouts and stimulus can help an economy recover.

Not that Cavuto thought it worth mentioning. He closed the segment lovingly: "Congresswoman, great seeing or at least hearing you again. Be well."
