“Objective” Harris Faulkner Helps Validate Cain Talking Points Re Sexual Harassment Allegations

Reported by Ellen - October 31, 2011 -

I don't catch Harris Faulkner on Fox much these days but it’s pretty clear her Republican bias has not diminished. When she came on Geraldo At Large last night to discuss the breaking news about past allegations of sexual harassment against Herman Cain, she helped validate the talking points of Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon.

Faulkner read from an email she received from Gordon, saying, “Since Washington establishment critics have not had much luck in attacking Mr. Cain’s ideas to fix a bad economy and create jobs, they are now trying to attack him in any way they can.”

Rather than note Cain's non-denial, Faulkner went on to paraphrase Gordon, saying in part, “(They) think the reason (this story has come up) is because Cain is being attacked.” Then, she went on to bring up examples of why Gordon might be right. Here's what she said:

“A couple things have happened in the last 48 hours. An Iowa survey has shown that Mr. Cain may be statistically still tied with Mitt Romney but technically ahead, if the caucuses were to be held today in Iowa. That’s important to note. And then you have a situation where he predicted quite boldly that he would win the southern vote in South Carolina… He’s a Baptist minister and has said he can win the conservative Christian vote.”

What Faulkner left out? That attack target or not, the real question right now is whether or not Cain did it.

To his credit, Rivera honed right in on the heart of the matter and later had an epic conversation with Cain spokesman Gordon.
