Geraldo To Cain Spokesman: We Like You But Your Refusal To Confirm Or Deny Sexual Harassment Allegations Is “A Recipe For Disaster”

Reported by Ellen - October 30, 2011 -

The Geraldo At Large show had barely gotten going tonight when a Fox News alert interrupted with the bombshell that Politico is reporting that “at least two” of Cain’s former female employees complained about “sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable.” These women also received what looks an awful lot like hush money when they left their employment and agreed not to discuss their departures. Geraldo Rivera got Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon on the phone and asked if the allegations were true. Gordon refused to give a straight answer. Rivera tried to make it clear Gordon was among friends on Fox but he grew increasingly impatient with the double talk.

In what was perhaps an inadvertently revealing moment, Geraldo said in frustration, “J.D., I got the statement. We like you.” Then, he continued, “Now you’ve got to level with us. Are you denying, or is the candidate, is Herman Cain, denying that he ever gave money to two women who alleged that he had sexually harassed them back in the 1990’s? Is he denying the cash payout to the two women?”

Gordon continued to waffle, suggesting the story was a liberal hit job and that “Mr. Cain deserves better than this.”

“He may deserve much better than this,” Geraldo replied, “…but I want your denial, if you would, to be a little more substantive.”

They went back and forth like that for most of the discussion. “J.D., you are evading my questions!” Rivera exclaimed at one point. Then, as Gordon continued to evade, Rivera said, “J.D., what you are saying and what you are doing right now is a recipe for disaster, mate.”

I agree.
