Rep. Allen West Tells Bill Hemmer That Tea Party Isn't Racist! Seriously?

Reported by Priscilla - October 5, 2011 -

African American actor Samuel L. Jackson recently said that the Tea Party is racist and that he thinks that “everything right now is geared toward getting that guy out of office, whatever that means. It’s not politics. It is not economics. It all boils down to pretty much to race. It is a shame." Well them's fighting words for teabaggers whose racial tolerance is relegated to only those blacks who share their worldview including one of their heroes, GOP Representative Allen West who defended his beloved (mostly white) bagging bros on Bill Hemmer's alleged Fox "news" show. He was also able to criticize President Obama and, with Hemmer's prompting, talk up Herman Cain; so it was all good in Hemmer's hood.

West had the floor for almost five minutes (and we know that Jackson will be given equal time!) during which he said that Jackson should be focusing on how Obama is a failure instead of attacking the Tea Party which "stands on fiscal responsibility, limited government which is constitutionally aligned and also our free market enterprise system as well as national security." He said that the Tea Party isn't about color but "character" and "the principals of governance..." After Hemmer noted Herman Cain's rising poll numbers, West said that the popularity of Cain disproves Freeman's allegation. Hemmer was almost reverential when, at the end of the segment, he said that he was looking forward to talking to him again about "what's happening in our country and what you're doing out there."

Comment: What West is doing is calling President Obama a Marxist and saying that when he hears the name of Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz, he needs a bucket in which to vomit. But you didn't hear anything about that from Hemmer. You also didn't hear any questions about how the Tea Party plans to address the problem of black unemployment and how their demands to cut spending on social services would impact the black community. Hemmer didn't mention polling data indicates that blacks in the Tea Party range from 1% to 11%. He didn't mention a CBS poll that showed that 52% of Tea Party members feel that "too much is made of problems facing blacks." Nope, the propaganda message is that the Tea Party isn't racist, Herman Cain is awesome, and Barack Obama sucks. Actually, when I hear Allen West, the first thing that comes to my mind is a barf bucket.

Addendum: Fox Nation describes West as "smacking down" Jackson on Hemmer's show. But how can you have a smackdown if you're the only one doing the smacking?

No racism here

And some racism here

And here.
