Fox's Dr. Keith Ablow Says Therapists Should Think Of Crucified Jesus

Reported by Priscilla - September 23, 2011 -

You just can't make this stuff up. After his relentless smear campaign against Chaz Bono, Fox's "Medical A Team" member, Dr. Keith Ablow is having a come to Jesus moment - and he suggests that his fellow members of the counseling profession have one too. In his recent "opinion" piece, "Was Jesus the First Psychiatrist," on the Fox News website, Dr. Ablow makes some valid points about the scientific nature of psychiatry. But then he veers off into the decidedly unscientific area of Christian teaching which he claims is "very nearly one" with psychiatry and psychology. (It's not) He talks about how the "powerful" image of Christ on the cross is something that psychiatrists and psychologists should "keep in mind." He then seemed to mock those who seek therapy in a litany of points which suggested that Jesus didn't whine about his situation. He invokes the Resurrection as a "powerful fact anyone seeking to restore themselves to well-being—to life." (Uh, the Resurrection is a Christian religious story and not a "fact") Recently, Dr. Ablow informed Bill O'Reilly that he resigned from the American Psychiatric Association. One suspects that he is not missed. But now that he's distancing himself from those DSM elites and their silly science, he could join Marcus Bachmann's Christian counseling practice where the two of them could blissfully pray away the gay. Praise the lord!
