Is Hannity's Nose Growing? He's Insisting He Never Questions President Obama's Patriotism

Reported by Ellen - August 25, 2011 -

Last night (8/24/11), Sean Hannity reached new heights in hypocritical dishonesty as he repeatedly insisted he would never call President Obama "unpatriotic." Hannity's nose should have doubled or tripled in size after making such a ridiculously false statement. In fact, there could be fewer segments where Hannity DIDN'T question Obama's patriotism than when he did.

One representative clip from last night's refrain is below, via Media Matters:

Hannity, as usual, camouflaged his attack in victimhood. "I would never question (Obama's) patriotism but how come Obama gets away with that?" he asked. Hannity continued that "liberal-meanies-get-away-with-everything" whine that Jon Stewart so aptly ridiculed when he landed Hannity in the GOP: Special Victims Unit not long ago.

So let's take a look at what Hannity HAS said:

On April 17, 2009, Hannity spent an entire segment attacking Obama's patriotism, saying he "blames America," and going on to have the following exchange:

Hannity: Is there anything that (Obama) likes about this country?

RNC Chairman Michael Steele: That's the question to end the week.

Hannity: The Dixie Chicks did this once... Obama does this daily now, apologizing for this country... I'm getting a little sick and tired of it, Michael.

On April 3, 2009, Hannity said he thought Obama harbors deep, hidden (racial) resentment against the United States:

“Here he is, he achieved in this country the highest office in the land,” Hannity began. “The American people elected Barack Obama. I think it says more about him that he didn't make the case... about the goodness and the greatness and the wonder of America, and he talked about Americans' arrogance... Didn't we see all of this in the campaign, and as I was bringing up. Didn't Rev. Wright give us a little insight into his thought process? Didn't, you know, Michelle Obama, 'America's a downright mean country'... Didn't we get some insight? When you sat on a board and give speeches with Bill Ayers, Do you think he harbors deep resentment that he just hides? 'Cause I believe he does.”

On February 11, 2011, Hannity blamed Obama's lack of love for America for the misconception that he's a Muslim:

Let me dig a little deeper here. Could it be apologizing for America? Could it be the so-called failure of his Muslim outreach that we don’t seem to be bearing any fruit from the attempts of the president, he gave a speech in Cairo, etc., etc.

Plus, who can forget Hannity's embrace of birtherism?

Media Matters has several more examples, including my favorites, Hannity saying that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize "for trashing America:"

...and Hannity calling Obama "an appeaser" who is "making this country and every citizen vulnerable to attack."
