Sarah Palin And Sean Hannity Use Biden’s Alleged “Terrorist” Comment To Attack Obama As A Terrorist

Reported by Ellen - August 3, 2011 -

Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity proved inconclusively and indisputably that, like Joseph McCarthy before them, they have no sense of decency. You may recall that shortly after the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, Palin painted herself as a big victim to a sympathetic Hannity when she accused those who objected to her inflammatory rhetoric as an attempt to make her “shut up.” Apparently, free speech is only for conservatives as far as Hannity and Palin are concerned. Because without a trace of irony, Palin joined Hannity in Jon Stewart’s GOP Special Victims Unit, thanks to Vice President Joe Biden allegedly calling the Tea Party “terrorists.” Then, her victimhood proudly on her forehead, Palin made the not-so-thinly veiled suggestion that President Obama is the real terrorist. Hannity was all approval. It's disgusting, really. The two of them should have been fired on the spot and would have been if they worked at any kind of network with any sense of decency.

As I noted yesterday, Hannity is all for inflammatory rhetoric so long as it's a conservative doing the flame-throwing. Recently, Hannity defended Rep. Allen West for his misogynistic attacks on Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, calling her "the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives," telling her to "shut the heck up" and "You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!"

But even though Biden has said he never used the word “terrorist,” Hannity was now on Day 2 of outraged victimhood – used as an excuse to attack his political foes. So it was no surprise that when Palin used the t-word right there on the Hannity set as an attack on President Obama, Hannity made no secret of his endorsement.

Palin said,

Heck, Sean, if we were real domestic terrorists – shoot, President Obama would be wantin’ to pal around with us, wouldn’t he? I mean he didn’t have a problem pallin’ around with Bill Ayers back in the day when he kicked off his political career in Bill Ayers’ apartment and then – you know, shaking hands with (Hugo) Chavez, saying he doesn’t need any preconditions with meeting dictators or wanting to read U.S. Miranda rights to alleged suspected foreign terrorists. No, if we were real domestic terrorists, I think President Obama wouldn’t have a problem with us.

Hannity reacted by further playing the bullyboy victim, this time because there had not been enough attention to Obama’s ties to “terrorist” Bill Ayers. “He sat on boards with him, he gave speeches with him, he began his political career in the guy’s house and the guy’s an unrepentant terrorist.”

Of course, Hannity began his political career buddying up to a white supremacist but I’m sure that has nothing to do with his inflamed attacks on Obama. And while Ayers may be “unrepentant,” he has lived a respectable life for years. Hannity’s white supremacist pal, on the other hand, is in jail for threatening three federal judges - and faces more charges for threatening three state lawmakers in Connecticut.

Nevertheless, Special Victim Hannity continued, “We are excoriated for daring to bring up who this president is, in terms of his background, his radical associations.”

A graphic saying, “LANGUAGE OF THE LEFT” appeared on the screen.

Palin may be too cowardly to face any challenging questions from the media but she nevertheless put on her brave face.

I’m not just gonna roll over with a sticker plastered on my forehead that says, "Hit me, baby, one more time. Call me a terrorist again. Call me a racist." …Enough is enough and I’m going to stand up for those fiscally conservative patriotic, independent Americans who want the best for this country… I’m going to stick up for people who at this point are being called terrorists and being accused of waging jihad against this country. Enough is enough and I’m not going to just sit here and take it any more and I don’t want you or anyone else who is innocent in all of this to take it any more.
