Got Hypocrisy? Fox & Friends & Newt Gingrich Chide Obama For Shovel Ready "Joke"

Reported by Priscilla - June 15, 2011 -

Recently, in meeting with his Jobs and Competitiveness Council in North Carolina, President Obama joked that his "shovel ready" projects weren't "as shovel ready as we expected." This comment was used, by Gretchen Carlson, as a scripted question during their almost 10 minute interview with Newt Gingrich which was basially an unchallenged platfrom for him to pimp his platform and his latest book and during which the three Ailes stooges (whoops, Doocy, Kilmeade, and Carlson) had their lips, metaphorically speaking, on Ginrich's voluminous posterior. And as part of the softball interview with their former Fox mate, Gretchen Carlson worked in the requisite Fox & Friends anti-Obama propaganda message for the day which, once again, underscores how Fox's morning chat show is such an obvious vehicle for whatever right wing talking points with which Roger Ailes wants to start the day. Gotta love the smell of propaganda in the morning!

After commenting that it will be up to the American people to decide if they want to re-elect Obama, former Miss America Gretchen Carlson segued adroitly into what was clearly the propaganda message of the segment: "Speaking of the American people, a lot of their tax dollars went to those shovel ready projects, the stimulus money, the "billions of dollars." She wanted Gingrich's reaction to the president's comment which "some people interpreted as laughing away that wasted money."

Deconstruction - The stimulus was a waste of money. Gretch didn't mention that much of the stimulus consisted of tax cuts and that in Newt's home state of Georgia it helped to *create or save more than 23,000 jobs.

Gretch tossed the propaganda ball to Newt with her question of whether he thought it was a joke. He then pontificated about how Americans who are economically suffering should be "enraged" about the insensitivity of the President whose "failed policies" are causing such "pain." Ailes "lackey" Steve Doocy said "absolutely right." Gingrich continued with how "disgraceful" and "out of touch" this was. Despite Murdoch's Wall Street Journal giving good grades to the stimulus, Steve Doocy reinforced the stimulus agitprop: The Stimulus wasn't very stimulating." Gingrich spent the last few minutes of his interview (wonder if the other GOP candidates will get equal time!) pimping his new book about American exceptionalism and blithering about how our inalienable rights come from God. He said that his book compares how Obama is committed to the big government of European secularism (oh yeah, that evil secular, cultured, well educated, Europe that gives its citizens health care and a non crumbling infrastructure - ewwwww) to our model where citizens have to be responsible.

Comment: What hypocrites. Remember when their beloved President Bush joked, in a video shown during the 2004 Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner, about not being able to find the weapons of mass destruction. "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere. Nope, no weapons over there ... maybe under here." Unlike the stimulus which, according to the CBO, added 3.3 million jobs and "may have prevented the nation from lapsing back into recession," the war in Iraq costs the lives of thousands of Americans and innocent Iraqi citizens. (So much for American exceptionalism) Bush's joke about not being able to find the WMD's is an insult to every soldier who served, died, or will be permanently disabled as a result of wounds suffered in Iraq as well as their families. And when Bush joked, there was no outrage from either Newt Gingrich or the happy Bush lovers on Fox & Friends. Looking for hypocrisy and right wing propaganda? Look no further than the giant sucking sound that emanates from the asses that are on the curvy couch on Fox & Friends!
