Unlike With Palin, Chris Wallace Gives Tim Pawlenty A Grilling

Reported by Ellen - June 12, 2011 -

I don’t mean to criticize a moderator for asking tough substantive questions of a presidential candidate but you have to wonder why Chris Wallace was so hard on Tim Pawlenty and so much easier on Sarah Palin. As other sites have noted, Wallace fiercely challenged Pawlenty’s economic plan. Wallace even dismissed Pawlenty’s joke about Bill O’Reilly playing the race card when he called Pawlenty “vanilla.” Yet compare this interview to Wallace’s far less challenging questions for Sarah Palin as she discussed how “President Palin” would handle various policy matters. Wallace even allowed Palin to whitewash her ignorance-revealing gaffe about Paul Revere -- then later gushed about her “boffo performance." Fair and balanced? I don’t think so – but it’s not because Wallace was too hard-hitting with Pawlenty.
