Steve Doocy Has Forgotten His Catechism?

Reported by Priscilla - April 23, 2011 -

As a good Catholic, Fox friend Steve Doocy must have been required to memorize Catholic theological questions and answers from the standard catechism. But he seemed to have had a memory lapse during Thursday's Fox & Friends interview with Father Jonathan Morris about the meaning of Holy/Maundy Thursday. Morris explained that the day commemorates the institution of the Eucharist, the priesthood, and that "brand new commandment that Jesus gives to the disciples." He said, "Remember that one, Steve." Doocy responded "which one?" Oh, Steve, oh no you didn't!

Morris chuckled and reminded Steve that it was "when Jesus said 'love one another as I have loved you' and he got down on his knees and washed their feet." Doocy tried to gloss over his Catholic faux-pas with "that's exactly where I was about to go." After having suffered through too many years of Catholic catechism, I still would have been able to answer Morris' question albeit with the older phrasing of "love thy neighbor as thyself." It's considered a biggie - but obviously not by Steve Doocy and the Catholic loving Fox News whose mission is all about hating your neighbor - especially if they're public employees, union members, Muslims, undocumented immigrants, minorities, LGBT, and poor recipients of "entitlement programs." While promoting a meme that Obama and the Democrats are engaging in class warfare against the rich, Fox "News," is engaging in class warfare against those people for whom Jesus advocated when he was doing some "community organizing" in Palestine. Perhaps "Mr. Happy" should review his catechism. He might be very shocked at the cognitive dissonance between what is preached on Fox and what constitutes official dogma - especially that bit about "bearing false witness!"

Comment: When the good Christians, on Fox & Friends, were trashing President Obama's praise of America's social safety net for those whom Jesus characterized as the "least among us," this was the visual. Love thy neighbor as thyself indeed!

But who cares about the disabled and the poor! (Uber Christian Gretchen Carlson, who was so moved about the plight of "Baby Joseph," asked if "entitlements have really made us a great country?"). Fox News is more concerned about the terrible threat against Christians posed by Lady Gaga and Ricky Gervais. Jesus must be very happy with "America's Newsroom!"
