Wallace Inflates Fox News Sunday Ratings

On Fox News Sunday today, Chris Wallace groused about the fact that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert Gates had declined to appear on the show, “despite the fact we routinely have more viewers” than two of the other Sunday shows. Wallace didn’t explain what he meant by “routinely” or which two shows he was referring to, but as far as we can tell, Fox News Sunday usually places last in the ratings.

Wallace announced:

We wanted to get the White House's view on Libya. However, they chose to offer Sec. of State Clinton and Defense Sec. Gates to ABC, CBS, and NBC, but not to Fox. Despite the fact we routinely have more viewers than two of those Sunday shows, the Obama team felt no need to explain to the millions of you who watch this program and Fox News, why they have sent US servicemen and women into combat. We thought you'd like to know.

We thought you’d like to know that on 3/20/11, 3/13/11, 3/7/11, and 2/20/11 (I couldn’t find ratings for 2/28/11) Fox News Sunday had far fewer viewers than any of the other Sunday shows. Other indicators suggest this is the usual case.
