Reporting On Woes Of AZ State Senator, Fox News Doesn't Mention He's Republican Majority Leader

Reported by Ellen - March 2, 2011 -

Our reader Greg, found this one on FoxNews.com and commented, "It took intuition and a Wikipedia search for me to figure out which
party Sen. Scott Bundgaard, referenced in the following Fox News
article, belonged to. I'm sure the omission of his position as the state senate's Republican Majority leader was pure oversight lost between edits."

From the article called, Arizona State Senator Given Immunity as Girlfriend Is Arrested in Domestic Dispute:

PHOENIX -- An Arizona state senator says he was acting in self defense before the arrest of his girlfriend Friday night on one count of assault that allegedly was the byproduct of a jealous rage.

Police arrested Sen. Scott Bundgaard's girlfriend Aubry Ballard after the two attended a "Dancing With the Stars" charity event that apparently included a saucy rhumba dance.

Bundgaard told MyFoxPhoenix that he acted in self defense when Ballard began throwing his things out of the car, punching him and trying to get into the driver's seat when he stopped alongside a state road.

Greg also suggested that if Bundgaard were Hispanic (and I'll add "Democrat"), the position and affiliation would be "headline-worthy."

By the way, Phoenix New Times has lots more on this story about how and why Bundgaard was given immunity for his actions including this juicy little nugget about a Fox News fave:

Membership has its privileges. Heck, even Governor Jan Brewer got out of a DUI charge in 1988 after failing four field-sobriety tests while reeking of booze. Why? Because she was in the freaking Legislature at the time.
