Bill O'Reilly Can't Quit Miley Cyrus

Reported by Priscilla - February 17, 2011 -

One would expect Miley Cyrus updates from TMZ or E! Online. One wouldn't expect that aging, "traditionalist" Bill O'Reilly, who prides himself on his hard hitting "journalism," would be obsessed with everything Miley Cyrus says or does. (Here, Here, Here, Here) But he is, after all, looking out for us so why wouldn't he be looking out for Ms. Cyrus. It seems that Bill is concerned about the "family drama" in Miley's life. In his need to express his feelings about this serious matter, he discussed it, last night, with Danny Bonaduce and Fox resident psychologist and Republican spinmeister Dr. Keith Ablow. Can this get any - ah - creepier?

Bill reported that Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, has an achy-breaky heart about Miley's show "Hannah Montana" which, according to Miley's dad, "destroyed my family." Bill and the doc discussed the pressures on families of child stars who are "being prostituted to some extent." When asked if he agreed with Ablow, Bonaduce wanted to know if Ablow had "just called an 18 year old a prostitute." (Oh, snap, this is getting good.) Ablow responded that he wasn't calling her a prostitute but her parents "lent her out for profit." He mentioned that when Miley was 15, she was posing in "provocative ways." (Actually, the Annie Liebovitz photo was tame and tasteful but I guess you know provacative when you see it?). Bonaduce said that if it hadn't been "Hannah Montana" that ruined Miley Cyrus' life, it would have been some "guy named Steve" because "it's a teenage girl's job to have her life ruined" and alluded to the financial cushion that Cyrus set aside for when Miley "spirals out of control." Bill O'Reilly, America's daddy, said that "not all teenaged girls are estranged from their father, the family is falling apart and Cyrus says, look, this show did it. If we didn't have this show we would have been a normal family." Bonaduce disagreed. (Throughout the segment, Bill played video of Cyrus). Bonaduce said that he is a friend of Cyrus' and that Cyrus allowed this after having had a taste of fame for himself. To Bill's question of the inevitability of this type of family dysfunction in the home of a child star, Bonaduce cited Jodi Foster, Ron Howard, and Brooke Shields as examples of how this isn't always true. Ablow said that Cyrus is the "poster child for what happens in our society, facebook and the rest of it. This young woman toured as a rock star, as her alter ego." (As Ablow was speaking a full screen video of Miley and her breasts was shown.). "She toured as the star she was on TV. I'm not sure there's a precedent for that." (Oh really, how about Garth Brooks as Chris Gaines; Barry Humphries as "Dame Edna;" Sasha Baron Cohen as "Ali G;" Andy Kauffman As "Tony Clifton;" David Bowie as "Ziggy Stardust"...). "That's the family her father presided over and now we see the fallout."

Comment: Who needs "Entertainment Tonight" when you have Bill O'Reilly! I wouldn't use the word "entertaining" to describe adult males analyzing Miley Cyrus' salacious past while her videos played in the background. But as long as it provided intellectual stimulation for Bill O'Reilly, it's all good.
