Fox News Civil War: Kristol And Lowry Vs. Beck
Reported by Ellen - February 6, 2011 -
It looks like we can add Bill Kristol and Rich Lowry to the group of Fox News colleagues not exactly enamored of Beck. In fact, they sounded downright condemnatory in individual columns recently. (H/T Think Progress)
Now, people are more than entitled to their own opinions of how best to accomplish that democratic end (in Egypt). And it’s a sign of health that a political and intellectual movement does not respond to a complicated set of developments with one voice.
But hysteria is not a sign of health. When Glenn Beck rants about the caliphate taking over the Middle East from Morocco to the Philippines, and lists (invents?) the connections between caliphate-promoters and the American left, he brings to mind no one so much as Robert Welch and the John Birch Society. He’s marginalizing himself, just as his predecessors did back in the early 1960s.
Then Lowry responds:
Bill Kristol has an editorial on conservatives and Egypt. He takes a well-deserved shot at Glenn Beck’s latest wild theorizing:
Aunty Em is working on a post about Beck's Egypt comments. We'll just add them to so many other reasons that Fox News should fire Glenn Beck. Any kind of responsible network would have done so long ago.
