In Honor Of State Dinner For Hu, O’Reilly And Miller Crack Chinese Food Jokes

Reported by Ellen - January 20, 2011 -

It wasn’t as offensive as Rush Limbaugh using Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to mock Chinese culture but Dennis Miller’s routine – with Bill O’Reilly playing straight man – cracking Chinese food jokes about Hu came a close second. The food jokes came after a series of jokes based on the punchline, “Hu Let The Dog Out?”

O’Reilly started it. “Any idea what’s on the menu at the state dinner? What do you serve? When the Chinese people come over, you can’t have Peking Duck because it’s not Peking any more, it’s Beijing. So that would offend them.” O’Reilly, acting out the part of a waiter, said, “’Here why don’t you try a little Peking Duck,’ And boom, there’s a big diplomatic incident.”

Miller said, “Truth be told, Jintao would rather be back at the Comfort Inn in his panda jammies, watching the Factor with a McRibs sandwich… He brought his top military guy, General Tso, and, you know, some people question his cowardice, they say, ‘General Tso’s chicken’ and I say, ‘I don’t think so,’ I think that he’s alternatingly tangy and spicy and sweet.”

O’Reilly and Miller could not stop cracking up. O’Reilly thought they could sell the “panda jammies” on The Factor.

Sorry, but the only word I can think of to describe these jokes is "tasteless."

Oh, and by the way? The food was all American, at the request of the Chinese delegation.
