Is NOW On Bill O'Reilly's Enemies List? You Betcha!

Reported by Priscilla - January 16, 2011 -

The National Organization for Women is all about empowering women and that's why they're hated by the declining right wing patriarchy and their hate media mouthpieces who say some rather vile things about the women from NOW.(here, here,) As a "traditionalist," Bill O'Reilly is not fond of women who defend their right to fair wages and bodily autonomy. Thus, he is not too fond of NOW whom he attacked earlier this week. While folks in the evil, librul media were engaging in some thoughtful analysis of the climate of political hatred in this country, Bill O'Reilly launched attacks against those who dared to criticize the vitriol. Included in his attack was Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman (Bill doesn't have a Nobel but he does have a "Courage Award" for his vitriol towards the assassinated abortion provider, George Tiller) and the National Organization for Women who had the audacity to say that "We condemn, equally, the culture of hate and violence increasingly reflected in extreme right-wing opponents of those who support progressive solutions to our country's challenges." Avoiding the reality that the Daily Kos and "hate filled diatribes on MSNC" didn't inspire the hate filled rhetoric and actions, from the right, that surrounded the passage of health care, including vandalism of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords office, Bill asked why NOW hasn't condemned those on the left. This isn't the first time that Bill has attacked this group of scary women. But they're not afraid of him, so the history is interesting.

Unlike, say, the conservative "Concerned Women for America" who want to take women back to the "good old days" of back alley abortions and women who were happy housewives, NOW has a different take on things and for that they have incurred Bill's wrath. In 2004 he accused them of being "perhaps the most radicalized women's group in the history of this country" for their defense of an imprisoned woman who didn't consent to an emergency C Section, on the advise of doctors who said that this could save the lives of twins that she was carrying section. As a result, one of the twins she was carrying was born dead and Dr. O'Reilly maligned the woman for her decision and NOW for saying that "Our legal system recognizes every person's bodily integrity and the right to make your own medical decisions." Bill launched into "baby killer" mode: "The truth is that NOW and other misguided groups do not believe any unborn child has rights." After Carrie Prejean lost her crown, Bill wanted to know why NOW didn't defend her. He complained that NOW didn't defend Sarah Palin against David Letterman's"mocking." Bill, however, has never mentioned that NOW condemned the "Eminem" video which sexualized Sarah Palin.

Perhaps O'Reilly has a vendetta against NOW that goes beyond just a difference of opinion on issues near and dear to Bill's heart. In the category of "Sexist Piggery," NOW cited Bill's "joke" comparison of journalist Helen Thomas to the "Wicked Witch of the East." Kim Gandy called out O'Reilly about his attacks on Dr. Tiller which Kim Gandy said were part of O'Reilly's "anti-woman agenda." They criticized him for "blaming the victim" in his commentary about women killed by abusive partners. And Bill must be really pissed that NOW put him in their "media hall of shame" after he sent his stalker/producer after journalist Amanda Terkel who questioned why O'Reilly would be speaking to a rape victim's advocacy group after having "blamed the victim" of a vicious rape/murder several days after the woman's body was found.

Comment: And while Bill O'Reilly is "looking out for us," NOW is looking out for women and for that I am grateful. Bill O'Reilly, obviously, is not! Memo to Bill: "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." Oh, nooooo.......
