Fox Nation Takes "The Onion" As Truth
Reported by Ellen - November 26, 2010 -
So long as an article bashes Obama, Fox Nation doesn't seem to care where it comes from nor does the "fair and balanced" news site bother to vet it. So when the satirical Onion posted an artile called, "Frustrated Obama Sends Nation Rambling 75,000-Word E-Mail," Fox Nation posted it as truth. The sad thing is, the readers found it true enough.
As Gawker and Mediaite noted, the Onion piece was showcased on Fox Nation amid a number of true articles. Mediaite also caught some of the reader comments such as this one: “If this story is correct, that he did send out this email, it is very concerning about his current state of mental health. I am surprised he would be allowed to send something like this out and if he is not functioning very well why there isn’t some attention being paid to his current state.”
By the way, the post is still up and still on the home page of Fox Nation, without a note that it's satire.
