I Heart A Republican Woman

Reported by Ellen - October 24, 2010 -

I just love it when people stand up to aggressive right wingers, even if it’s a Republican doing it. So I let out a whoop a few days ago when the African American woman in the front row of Frank Luntz’ Nevada focus group smacked down a Sharron Angle supporter and just about every pro-Angle comment she had a chance to comment on.

Luntz asked the group, “Can’t we hold (Harry) Reid somewhat responsible for (the problems in Nevada)?”

The woman in the front row did hold Reid “somewhat responsible” but said she remained a supporter because “I want someone seasoned to fight for Nevada, plain and simple.”

But a man sneered, “The fact of the matter is that you support him because he’s a Democrat like you. But the fact of the matter is that he needs to be held accountable. He can’t take all of the credit and once again, none of the blame.”

The woman countered, “First of all, I’m president of the National Black Republican Roundtable. I’ve been a Republican for over 25 years. But I’m what you call a reasonable Republican. Nobody gets to tell me who to vote for. I don’t care what’s behind your name a R, a D, a I, a G, or whatever!”

This same lady was not shy with other panelists or with Luntz. Even though she did tell him, “We love you, too,” I’ve got to call her a Top Dog.
