On Fox & Friends, Right Wing Brent Bozell Says NPR Is Biased! ROFLMAO!!!
Reported by Priscilla - October 22, 2010 -
“Fair & Balanced” Fox News seems to “heart” right wing media critic, tedious scold, and Christian homophobe Brent Bozell, head of the Media Research Center and founder of the Parents Television Council (which is all vaclempt about those dirty, sexy pics of “Glee stars” in GQ). His unnaturally blonde talking head (and beard) is becoming a regular feature on Fox’s morning chat show “Fox & Friends.” Naturally, Fox “News” is just fit to bursting about Juan Williams’ firing from NPR. So, not surprisingly, Brent appeared, this morning, to discuss how hypocritical NPR is because, in the past, they have tolerated remarks which Bozell considers far worse than what Williams said. Interestingly, NPR as hypocrite just might be a new Fox meme because, on the Fox website, we have an article titled – ready for it – “A Brief History of NPR's Intolerance and Imbalance.” (ROFLMAO – this from the allegedly “fair & balanced” mouthpiece for the radical right!!) But as a good foot soldier for the radical right, Bozell did his job in pointing out bad things said on NPR. But it’s ironic that Bozell, who is now on a jihad (whoops, crusade) to force the mainstream media to “stop the liberal bias and tell the truth,” was engaging in precisely the kind of intolerance and bias that he claims is practiced by NPR - and doing it on a network that specializes in it!
While the agitprop chyron read: “A History of Intolerance, NPR Has a Record of Offensive, Bias Coverage” (Oh, the irony!!!) Steve Doocy played video of NPR’s esteemed journalist Nina Totenberg saying that if “there is retributive justice…Jesse Helms would get AIDS from a transfusion or one of his grandchildren will get it.” While this might seem like strong language (my hope is that Helms went to a place with all minorities and one Jesse), it is important to remember that Jesse Helms said that homosexuals were “weak, morally sick wretches” and that "There is not one single case of AIDS in this country that cannot be traced in origin to sodomy.” He also said that less federal money should be spent on AIDS because AIDS is a result of "deliberate, disgusting, revolting conduct," Ms. Totenburg wasn’t wishing that he got AIDS but rather saying that if God doled out “retributive justice,” Helms would get AIDS. (And didn’t Fox contributor, Liz Trotta, “joke” about an Obama assassination?) Doocy wanted to know about the contributor from New Orleans who talked about “the rapture.” Bozell, a Catholic, said that “the bible teaches us that millions of people will be taken instantly to heaven.” (Memo to Bozell: the RC Church does not subscribe to the Rapture) Not noting that the offender is a humorist, Bozell read the comment: "the evaporation of 4 million who believe this crap would leave the world a better place." (But Fox “News” didn’t have a problem with Ann Coulter saying that “liberals hate the nuclear family.”) Bozell claimed that nothing was done about the comment. He is either misinformed or he lied because NPR apologized – and that was in the Fox News article!
Bozell then did the perfunctory CAIR bash when he said that the complaints against Williams were organized by a “radical Muslim organization.” (Hey, Brent, less radical than Bill Donohue’s “Catholic League which has you on their Board of Advisors) Doocy did the perfunctory George Soros smear when he asked Bozell about Soros’ recent donation to NPR and Media Matters which is “bent on destroying Fox.” Doocy added that Soros got Williams’ “head on the wall.” Bozell went into a frothing rant about the “radicals at Media Matters who ae lying about Glenn Beck” (Hey, Bozell, they have videos and recording with the actual comments!) and that they are “trying to knock Beck off the air.” Bozell then went all homophobic with a comment about the “radicals at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation now teaming up with Facebook to knock anybody off that site that criticizes gays” (No Brent, they are workng to ensure that its online community is free from cyber-bullying. They teamed up “after anti-gay comments were posted to a Page dedicated to gay teens who had recently committed suicide.” But don’t worry, good Christian homophobes, like you, are free to make all the homophobic comments they want at Newsbusters). He claimed that “they can’t compete with us on the battlefield of ideas…or in the marketplace, so they’re going to all these backdoor ways to knock us off the air. He blithered about “censorship” and how this is “Orwellian” and “dangerous.” Doocy said “no kidding.”
Comment: So Fox “News” doesn’t think NPR is fair. Pot meet kettle? But glad to know that Fox is so concerned about Juan Williams who, one hopes, doesn’t scream “give me my m’f’ing iced tea” when he goes to restaurants – a sociological observation about blacks not made on NPR!
Addendum: How homophobic is Brent Bozell? So homophobic that he’s outraged that Fox’s “Glee” is “promoting” a “homosexual lifestyle.” So homophobic that he’s outraged that the homophobic characters on “Glee” are portrayed as “vicious bullies.” D’uh. (BTW, I’m a proud “Gleek!”)
