Fox News Repackages Home Construction News To Make It Gloomier

Apparently, the AP article which was posted on FoxNews.com, Home Construction Jumps 10.5 Percent in August, was just too upbeat for the website's editors. So they retitled it for the home page as, "Home Construction Up, but Outlook Grim." But there's no grim outlook from any economists in the article. In fact, most of the economic news is positive.

The article is full of good news: construction is not just up but so are building permits, The jump in construction is the highest since April.

Only in the last paragraph is what might be construed as the "grim outlook" on which Fox News hung its headline: "On Monday, the National Association of Home Builders said its monthly index of builders' sentiment was unchanged in September at 13. The index has now been at the lowest level since March 2009 for two straight months."

Builder sentiment is important, of course, but it's not exactly an authoritatively "grim outlook."
