Fox News Tea Party Doctor Part Of Group Believing That Obama Elected By Hypnosis

Reported by Ellen - September 11, 2010 -

Regular readers have probably guessed that I'm no fan of Megyn Kelly. But to give her her due, she does have spates of real journalistic integrity. So in fairness - and because it was good television (don't tell me that didn't come into Kelly's calculations) - I thought it worth highlighting this segment in which she confronts her own tea party guest for partnering with a group alleging that Obama was elected via mass, covert hypnosis.

When Kelly's interview with Dr. Adam Dorin began yesterday (8/10/10), I thought it was going to be standard Fox tea-party fare. Dorin was representing a group called "National Doctors Tea Party" and was there to discuss why they are upset with the AMA for supporting health care reform.

A lower-third banner read, "Tea Party doctors blast AMA over support for health care."

Even when Kelly skeptically asked Dorin, "Why complain about it now? It's law... What use is it now (that health care reform has passed)?" I didn't think she'd go any further with her challenge.

But then came this surprising question from Kelly to Dorin at about 4 minutes into the interview: "I gotta ask you about this. You published this article... in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. That is published by... the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons and this guy who's your partner, Wayne Iverson... (they have) a belief that President Obama won this election by hypnotizing voters."

She went on to cite a lengthy article called "Oratory or Hypnotic Induction?" about how Obama may have used a "covert form of hypnosis to win the presidency."

"I just want to know if this is a view you subscribe to," Kelly asked disingenuously.

Of course, Dorin said it wasn't. And unlike too many Democrats and liberals, Dorin knew how to handle the attempt to sandbag him. "The AAPS is a wonderful organization... to try to bring out some article that someone wrote has nothing to do with what we're trying to do here."
