Is There Any Right Wing Extremism Out Of Bounds On Fox News?

Reported by Ellen - August 4, 2010 -

In the wake of another Glenn Beck outrage, Fox News has reportedly announced that it stands "1000%" behind him. This time, Beck claimed that the "social justice" philosophy of Simon Greer of Jewish Funds for Justice, leads to Nazi-like death camps. Granted, this occurred on Beck's radio show. But where, if anywhere, Is there any line of right wing extremism too far not to be sanctioned by Fox News?

On May 28, Beck said on his radio show that Greer's social justice beiefs, "leads to death camps. A Jew, of all people, should know that. This is exactly the kind of talk that led to the death camps in Germany."

As Media Matters noted, "Fox's defense of this rhetoric has the effect of mainstreaming it, of proving that there are no real consequences for media figures who push the discourse beyond acceptable boundaries. Despite the fact that Beck's accusation that Obama is a racist has led to at least 100 advertisers dropping their ads from his Fox News show, right-wing media figures now routinely call Obama and others in his administration 'racist.'"
