Carly Fiorina Pretends She Was Really Complimenting Sean Hannity When She Dissed Him

Reported by Ellen - June 12, 2010 -

Just a few days after Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina was caught on microphone dissing Sean Hannity, she appeared on Fox News’ Hannity show to suck up clarify her remarks to him. Fiorina’s “explanation?” That she had really complimented Hannity when she criticized GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman for going on his show; that by saying, “I think it’s a very bad choice actually. You know how he is,” Fiorina really meant how good he is. Hannity may be a big hypocrite and misinformer but he apparently knows bullshit when he sees and hears it. And one look at his face was proof he wasn’t buying the uh, explanation. But hyper-partisan that he is, Hannity graciously accepted Fiorina's groveling excuse, said “all is forgiven,” and invited Fiorina to come back on the show any time. I’m willing to bet that if Fiorina loses the election, there will never be a next time.

As I previously posted, Fiorina said Wednesday (6/9/10) on CNN, “I find it really surprising that on the first day of the general, Meg Whitman is going on Sean Hannity. Did you hear that? I think it’s bizarre. I mean, she’s never been on Sean Hannity. I think it’s a very bad choice actually. You know how he is. … But why, after saying no to all these people, would you go on Sean Hannity? That’s not the one you would do. … Sean Hannity is not an easy interview, you know?”

But last night (6/11/10), Fiorina told Hannity, “You’re a tough interview, Sean, that’s your job. And, you know, I was feeling protective of my friend, Meg… But you can be a tough interview. And that’s your job. It’s more to your credit that you’re a tough interview… This was not a (sic) insult to you at all. In fact, it was a compliment.”

“OK,” Hannity said, obviously skeptical. He sputtered, reiterating Fiorina’s words: “’Bizarre, you know how he is.’” However, he graciously added, “You were very nice to call and apologize” and offered sympathy for the awkward situation.

But Hannity also made it clear he mistrusted not only Fiorina’s explanation, but her conservative cred.
