Megyn Kelly Gushes Over Janine Turner - Former Star and Current Teabagging Constitution Scholar

Reported by Priscilla - June 10, 2010 -

I loved "Northern Exposure" and was very disappointed when it ended. And for Janine Turner, that was the end of her big time TV career for which she was nominated for an “Emmy.” Since then, in addition to some productions (increasingly minor), an ad for dry eye relief, and a Christian yoga DVD, she has gotten involved in Republican politics. She campaigned for Sarah Palin and complained about media “liberal bias” on the Mike Huckabee show. She is a proud teabagger. So are we surprised to see her on “America Live” where she touted her new organization, “Constituting America,” which is focused on educating Americans about the Constitution – an appearance which “news” host Megyn Kelly thought was truly awesome.

On Tuesday, Kelly introduced the segment by describing how the leading candidate in the Nevada GOP primary, Sharon Angle (can we talk “out there?”), was the “Tea Party” candidate. She said that her upcoming guest, Janine Turner, has thoughts on the Tea Party and “what it stands for.” She introduced Turner (with blonde hair) and her teenage daughter who is “national youth director” of Janine’s group. Kelly said “like mother, like daughter, the amount of beauty coming out from across the desk…” Kelly said that she was “the luckiest gal to get you two for five minutes.” Turner said she was “thrilled” to be there. High school graduate Turner said that “our Founding Fathers” (no “Founders” for her) “would be very proud of the Tea Party movement because it’s “Americans who are peacefully assembling for the First Amendment and using their voice.” Video of angry white folks was shown while she spoke. (I do wonder if the Founders would be proud of the signs “Member of an Angry Mob” and “Proud to be What Liberals Hate”) Kelly said “you’re a big star, the star of that program, and I find out you’re an expert on the Federalist Papers.” She then referenced how this group is trying to get Americans interested in the Constitution and American History. (The Texas version?) Janine quoted Alexander Hamilton (who favored a strong central government and “loose construction” of the Constitution) in order to make the point that Americans need to understand the Constitution so that they know “when it’s being taken away from them.” She and Kelly chatted about apathetic Americans. After Turner’s daughter spoke, briefly, about how kids need to know this stuff, Kelly said “you are adorable. I’m like over the top for you.” Kelly then pimped Turner’s website which is full of Turner’s essay’s on the Federalist Papers. Her June 9th essay kvetches about that nasty 17tth Amendment which allowed citizens of states, and not the legislatures, to elect Senators. If Janine is such a “Founders” person, does she approve of the amendments which granted freedom and voting rights to former slaves? How does she feel about the women’s’ suffrage Amendment? And does she think that only property owners should be allowed to vote? But she signs off on her essays with “God Bless so it’s all good.”

Comment: For those of you who wondered whatever happened to Janine Turner, you have the answer!
