Fox News Lies To “People For The American Way?”

Reported by Priscilla - May 21, 2010 -

Despite it’s claim to be “fair and balanced,” Fox News appears to engage in deceptive practices which ensure that their “news” will not be “fair and balanced” – practices that ensure that their “news” will be as partisan as those to whom they are beholden. This week, Fox contacted “People for the American Way,” a group which monitors the radical Christian right, and asked if somebody would like to appear as part of the “Texas Textbook War” discussion on Martha MacCallum's show, "America's Newsroom." PFAW agreed and they were scheduled for Wednesday. They were told by Fox that they were being bumped on Wednesday because of the need to cover Tuesday’s primary and agreed to appear on Thursday. So far, so good. They were notified, late Wednesday, that the segment was being dropped completely. Whatever. Well surprise, surprise, when they tuned into “America’s Newsroom,” whom did they but “Texas Mom” Terry Ann Kelly who got three minutes, without any rebuttal from Martha MacCallum, to talk about how Christian students are being denied their freedom. PFAW notes that Terry Ann Conway is no mere mom but a professional speaker who has hosted local, regional, and national radio programs. She has taught public speaking and business communication at two Texas colleges. As an “inspirational speaker” she speaks to women’s groups on a variety of topics. She is the founder of ‘Students Standing Strong” – a group which encourages students to live a clean, Christian life. So while a “fair and balanced” discussion might have happened, it didn’t because obviously Fox didn’t want it to happen. Fox News – Fair and Balanced!
