Rupert Murdoch: It's Not Ethical To Support Tea Parties

Reported by Ellen - April 6, 2010 -

News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch spoke at a forum tonight, offering what Sam Stein of the Huffington Post described as "a winding and often frank take (from an often enigmatic figure) on the entire waterfront of the media landscape." According to Stein, Murdoch was asked by someone at Media Matters whether it was ethical to promote the tea parties the way Fox News has.

"No. I don't think we should be supporting the Tea Party or any other party. But I'd like to investigate what you are saying before condemning anyone," Murdoch reportedly replied.

I'm not holding my breath on that one. This is the same guy who agreed with Glenn Beck that Obama's a racist before he disagreed with Beck.

Stein also noted that Murdoch "struggled" when asked to name a single Democrat who works for Fox News. "'They are certainly there... Greta Van Susteren is certainly close to the Democratic Party,' he said, after blanking on names first and insisting that Ailes would have a long list. 'She doesn't do many political stories. She is just a great journalist... but people who have been involved in Democratic politics and so on, yeah we have people...'" Actually, Van Susteren does do a lot of political stories now, mostly from a Republican -leaning stance.
