Armchair General Greg Gutfeld Says Matthew Modine’s “Dangerous” Congeniality Is “A Recipe For Carnage”

Reported by Ellen - April 4, 2010 -

Armchair General Greg Gutfeld is still talking tough in his television studio and fighting a war of words against those he considers insufficiently bellicose. You may recall that Gutfeld mocked the Canadian military a while back as a bunch of slackers because their forces in Afghanistan had suffered such heavy casualties that their commander suggested they needed a respite from the operations. Wednesday night (3/31/10), Gutfeld beat his chickenhawk chest again as he smeared actor Matthew Modine for having said he wished we could sit down and talk to Osama bin Laden. According to Gutfeld’s keen military mojo, Modine’s “congenital cluelessness” was “a recipe for carnage.” With video.

Gutfeld allowed as how Matthew Modine was “a nice guy.” But, according to Gutfeld, Modine is also “clueless, dangerously so, and when you combine congeniality with congenital cluelessness, you have a recipe for carnage.”

Gutfeld’s rationale for the anti-Modine rant? Modine said on CNN, “Imagine if somebody were to really sit down with Osama Bin Laden and say, ‘Listen, man, what is it that you’re so angry at me about that you’re willing to have people strap bombs to themselves or get inside of airplanes and fly them into buildings?’ That would be the miracle if we could sit down and talk to our enemies.”

Gutfeld sneered about Modine, “You’re not Brad Pitt. Get rid of the beard.” Maybe it's just me but if I were Gutfeld, I wouldn’t go around making fun of how other people look. Then he added that the 51 year-old Modine’s opinion “reflects that of a six-year old girl as well as some folks in our government (see Iran). It’s a perspective that suggests one has never contemplated evil beyond a character portrayed in a script.”

Yes, if only Modine had the perspective and maturity that Gutfeld has gained from contemplating evil in front of a Fox News camera, he’d have the same sophisticated understanding of terrorism and how to fight it as Gutfeld.

Gutfeld continued with his combat acumen,

“When faced with an us versus them mentality, in which the choice for our enemies is either death or glory, history suggests there's only one way to respond, and it's not with back rubs (much to my sadness). It's annihilation until surrender.

It's an ugly thing, but when you consider the alternative — subservience under a new caliphate — it's pretty much all we have.”

I don’t think Gutfeld has to worry about being too much of a nice guy. But as someone with real stones? Not so much.
