Fox Nation Still Running Phony Story About Global Warming Activist Freezing To Death

Reported by Ellen - March 30, 2010 -

Sometimes comedy is more serious than "real" journalism. As Comedy Central noted, Fox Nation punked itself with its story about a global warming activist freezing to death in Antarctica. You'd think that a big news outfit like Fox News would have checked out a story before running with it - even if it did conveniently fit into their anti-climate change frame of mind. But no.

As Snopes noted, the story comes from a 2006 "article" in ecoEnquirer.com, a parody site that also includes such stories as "Court Orders Fisherman to Apologize to Eagle" and "Levitating Islands Captured by Spy Satellite." If those weren't good enough clues for Jesse Watters and his band of "fair and balanced" Fox Nation editors, then this disclaimer should have been: All content on this site, being a mixture of parody, satire, and lame humor, is for entertainment purposes only. If any content is found to be offensive or objectionable in any way, please accept our apologies... but we also suggest that you get a life.

Not only did Fox Nation fail to check the story - or else they ran it knowing it was false - it's still posted without a correction as I write this.

You can contact Fox Nation via their web mail here.
