Fox News Website Provides Platform For Persecuted, Homophobic, Beauty Queen Contender

Reported by Priscilla - February 25, 2010 -

Fox News has never seen a blonde, persecuted Christian, homophobic beauty queen that it doesn’t love. Poor Carrie Prejean, former Miss California and former spokesperson for the homophobic National Organization for Marriage, was just so ill treated by that nasty bad Perez Hilton who is representing that nasty bad “gay agenda” that is trying to impose its nasty bad lifestyle on good, God fearing conservatives and Fox fans. Fox News gave Prejean more than her “15 minutes” with her “full Ginsburg” of Fox News TV appearances. And now the Fox News website has discovered another sweet young Christian “beauty queen” who is down with gays being put to death. No kidding – she really told the Fox News entertainment writer that if God says that having gay sex “brings death upon you, that’s a pretty stern warning.” (But she has friends who are gay so it’s all good) The original Fox News article, about this aspiring beauty queen who "is speaking out in support of traditional nuptials" has been “updated” to show that this poor Christian gal, whose designation of herself as Miss Beverly Hills is problematic, is being persecuted because of a “media storm” surrounding her God hates gays comments and the reaction of the city of Beverly Hills to this eponymous beauty queen title. You just can’t make this stuff up – wait a minute, this is Fox News we’re talking about…

It’s really interesting. The first question is why Fox News would provide free publicity for the homophobic views of Lauren Ashley who lives in Pasadena and who crowned herself Miss Beverly Hills. The news subsequently broke, from the Los Angeles Times, that Ashley isn’t really Miss Beverly Hills because the city “does not sponsor a beauty pageant and has no association with Miss California USA.” But because the Miss Universe pageant allows all of its applicants for the state pageant to select which city they want to represent, Ashley selected Beverly Hills. (Coincidence?) But rather than just update her original story with this information and be done with it, Fox’s Hollie McKay upped the ante to frame the story as a “media storm” of persecution. It gets even more ridiculous. Fox’s Hollie McKay smears Beverly Hills, which she feels is really the guilty party here, in the article’s title “Beverly Hills Slams Beauty Contestant For Speaking Out Against Gay Marriage.” The article begins by stating that because Ashley “spoke out against gay marriage” she was “publicly condemned” by Beverly Hills. Omitted from McKay’s article is the reason why Beverly Hills is “slamming” Ms. Ashley. According to Beverly Hills Mayor Nancy Krasne, "We are dismayed by any potential association with the city of Beverly Hills, which has a long history of tolerance and respect.”

It gets more interesting. The first article contained two quotes from Ashley. In the updated version of the article, the following quote, from the first article is ommitted: I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that’s a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life.” The second quote: "in Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.' The Bible is pretty black and white” was cropped after “blood shall be upon them. McKay followed with “media storm that ensued interpreted her words with headlines such as ‘Miss Beverly Hills Wants Gays Put to Death’ and ‘God Wants Gays Dead,’ Says Beauty Queen." Uh, ya think!!!!!

But McKay adds that Maggie Gallagher of the National Organization for Marriage is supporting Ms. Ashley. Guess now that Carrie Prejean’s no longer with them (those naughty pictures?) they need another blonde beauty queen to carry their homophobic torch. But only in bizarro Foxworld, are bigots “condemned” and “slammed” by those who preach tolerance which is obviously not part of Fox’s family values
