Sarah Palin Gets A Plug For Her Electioneering While Appearing As A Fox News Analyst
Reported by Ellen - January 21, 2010 -
During her stint on Hannity last night (1/20/10), Fox News' "analyst" Sarah Palin sounded more like "political operative" Sarah Palin as she plugged her upcoming electioneering for Republican candidates. "Host" Sean Hannity didn't just quietly approve of blurring the line between "analysis" and "politicking," he actively helped her by giving her an opening to do so. With video.
At the end of the their discussion, Hannity said, "Governor... I did notice also on your blog that you're going to be campaigning for Governor (Rick) Perry (R-TX). We just had Senator McCain on. I know you're gonna be in Arizona campaigning for him and I know you're supporting Congresswoman Michele Bachmann in her race for re-election. You're gonna do a campaign for her."
This is at least the second time that the line between news, punditry and partisanship has been blurred on Fox News with the arrival of their latest “analyst,” Sarah Palin. Fox News contributor Dick Morris has almost made a career out of fundraising on Fox News but he has nowhere near the high profile of Palin. Also, Morris is a professional Republican operative (though he is always disingenuously introduced as "former Clinton advisor"). Palin, on the other hand, is supposed to be a retired politician and an analyst.
