Memo To Mike Gallagher: Remember The Presidential Daily Briefing “Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US?"

Reported by Ellen - December 31, 2009 -

During the “Great American Panel” segment of Tuesday night’s (12/29/09) Hannity, guest Mike Gallagher said, with a straight face, that if the Christmas terrorist incident had “happened under George Bush’s watch, we would be hearing about this morning, noon and night about what a catastrophic failure this is, on the part of the administration to connect the dots.” Hello! Did he not remember the Presidential Daily Briefing of August 6, 2001, entitled, “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US?” The 9/11 Commission report which has an entire section called, “The System was Blinking Red.” Funny, I don’t remember hearing about Bush’s failures “morning, noon and night.” Let’s face it, the consequences of 9/11 were far more devastating than what happened on Christmas. And if you want to compare apples to apples, Politico has a post noting the much harsher treatment Obama has gotten than Bush did with the failed shoe bomber, Richard Reid. The title says it all: "President Obama takes the heat President Bush did not." With video.

Sadly, Democrat Jacque DeGraff seemed to miss that point completely. While one can understand Gallagher’s amnesia in his zeal to advocate for his side, it’s hard to understand why DeGraff didn’t jump out of his chair to remind Gallagher of what he had forgotten.

There was no correction or clarification Wednesday night on the show. Last night was a repeat of the Hannity "special" in which Sean Hannity and his audience all indicated their enthusiasm for having Obama charged with treason. Don't hold your breath for any clarification when the show goes live again.
