Former Fox News Host Rips Glenn Beck And Takes A Dig At Fox
Reported by Ellen - December 3, 2009 -
Eric Burns, the former host of Fox News Watch, posted a column on Huffington Post in which he pondered how, if he still worked at Fox, he would have reacted to being a co-worker of Glenn Beck. Burns feared that monetary concerns would have kept him from having the ethical stones to quit outright. So, as if to make up for that hypothetical timidity, Burns ripped Beck to shreds in his post. He also took a swipe at Fox News, calling it, "the right-wing partial-news-but-mostly-opinion network."
Burns, who was not given a reason when he was let go from Fox, noted that he had not previously spoken out about the network. He wrote that he had decided to do so now because, "it is the time of year when one is supposed to count blessings." Among his blessings, Burns said, was that he did not "have to face the ethical problem of sharing an employer with Glenn Beck."
Burns continued, "Actually, Beck is a problem of taste as well as ethics. He laughs and cries; he pouts and giggles; he makes funny faces and grins like a cartoon character; he makes earnest faces yet insists he is a clown; he cavorts like a victim of St. Vitus's Dance. His means of communicating are, in other words, so wide-ranging as to suggest derangement as much as versatility."
