Will Bill O’Reilly Describe Arrested Protesters And Their Teabagging Supporters As “Loons?”

Reported by Priscilla - November 6, 2009 -

Remember when Jon Stewart lambasted Fox News for its flip flopping hypocrisy on a number of issues? Stewart noted how Bill O’Reilly, who defends obstreperous teabaggers, accused anti-war protestors during the Bush administration, of being “loons.” After he was called out on it, by Stewart, O’Reilly said “While most of these people have been peaceful, more than a thousand have been arrested and surveys show many protesters are simply loons, calling for the destruction of the American system, calling for retreat in the face of terrorism.” At yesterday’s teabagging of the US Capitol, some of the folks got a little rowdy. While thousands were not arrested, a dozen disruptive anti-choicer zealots were - during which process the teabagging crowd heckled the police. Think that O’Reilly will say that these people are “loons.” Somehow I don’t think so.

Correction: The radical anti-choicers were not officially tea partiers; but, those heckling police were. Those arrested do, however, frequent tea parties where they are obviously welcome.

I thought that nice, white, older, Southern people were supposed to act dignified. After all, these were the same folks who complained about the “dirty, f’ning hippies” during the anti Vietnam War protests. But yesterday’s teabaggers would have fit in well with any “up against the wall” type of protest waged during the heyday of the anti war movement. They gathered around an elderly Catholic priest* who refused to move off the sidewalk. Abbie Hoffman would have been proud to see the angry citizenry taunting the police. Rather than “fascist pigs,” the Washington DC cops were referred to as “union punks.” One woman yelled “I know you guys are just doing your jobs but don’t you hate yer job.” The same people, many of whom would favor secession, screamed “Nancy Pelosi is guilty of treason.” The same people who, most likely, would support the tasering of Code Pink, yelled “let him go, let him go.” They continued “in your heart, you know this is wrong.” Whoa, I thought these were the “law and order” crowd. It was difficult to make out what else they said as the Southern accents were thick and there was a lot of background noise. But who knew that teabaggers are the new SDS!!! Power to the people, right on?

Father Father Weslin Weslin “is best known as the founder of the Lambs of Christ, a nomadic paleo-conservative network of activists that stage clinic invasions and general mayhem goading police to arrest them. The group has long been linked to violent extremists in the anti-abortion movement. Early Lambs members include James Kopp, who is serving a life sentence in the murder of Dr. Barnett Slepian, and Shelley Shannon, who is imprisoned for a series of arson and acid attacks on clinics following her 1993 shooting of Dr. George Tiller.” So even more than a “pin head” this clerical crazy palled around with terrorists. Not surprisingly he and his traveling freak show got arrested at the University of Notre Dame when Obama gave the commencement address. These people are no different from the Weather Underground – but they have God on their side so it’s all good.
