Fox “News” Mocks And Distorts Jimmy Carter’s Statement

Reported by Priscilla - September 16, 2009 -

Throwing aside any pretense towards legitimate journalism and objective reporting, Fox News.com has this snark on its newest banner headline: “Carter Claims If You Protest Obama’s Policies, It’s Based On… “RACISM” (really?).” Now I can see that kind of thing over at Michelle Malkin’s website cuz Malkin, a conservative brown person and Fox fave, gets really upset when tolerant white folks are accused of racism – but on the Fox News website – REALLY???? The “tease” under Carter’s photo reads “AP Former President Carter draws fire for claiming Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's health care speech — in fact, ANY criticism of the president — is 'based on racism.” 'The linked AP article presents a more accurate version and reporting of the statement; but who needs to read the article when the “facts” are just staring ya in the face. Here’s the thing – Carter said “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American.” So he’s not saying that all those who protest Obama’s policies are racist or that “any criticism of the president” is “based on racism.” Once we again, we have Fox News using a headline as propaganda. And, once again we have Fox News spinning (or is it lying) to advance an agenda which could have, as its basis, further exploitation of the the racial divisions that do exist in this country. Yeah, really!!!

Oh, and the headlines about the newest, questionable ACORN video are still up there in big, bold letters.

Update - The lede has been removed; but the new headline, under the ACORN material, is "Carter: "Criticism of Obama Is 'Racism" That's a straight out lie - but that's Fox News.
