Fox&Friends Provide Free Publicity For Texas Teabagging, Obama Trashing Mom, Katrina Pierson

Reported by Priscilla - September 6, 2009 -

Fox News does seem to be the Teabagging network as they continue to provide this loud mouthed angry mob (whoops populist movement) with free publicity. Not only is cub reporter, Griff Jenkins embedded with the clown car (whoops, Tea Party Express); but Fox has brought back Katrina Pierson, a Texas mom who (quelle surprise!) who is part of a nationwide group of outraged conservative parents who don’t want their children exposed to the Marxist message of a an illegitimate Pied Piper President, who is piping their kids down the road to Nazi/fascist/commie-pinko/socialism. Obviously the old republican meme of working hard doesn’t hold the same cachet when given by the hated Barack Obama who might try to slip in subliminal messages about teh gay. Not surprisingly, Fox News is reinforcing this “indoctrination” meme (here, and here.) Coincidentally and not surprisingly, Fox&Friends is giving more free publicity to a Tea Bagger who gets to bash Obama and keep us “abreast” of her feelings about health care reform. Freedom loving Texas mom and member of the National Tea Party Coalition, Katrina Pierson made a return appearance on Saturday’s (September 5th) Fox&Friends during which Fox provided subtle PR for her newest Teabagging endeavor – talk about cajones!

Amended - I committed the unpardonable sin of misnaming Clayton Morris. It has been corrected. Thanks Fox lovers for reading News Hounds.

We’ve seen Katrina before. She is the sweet lil gal who, in July, told Brian Kilmeade that she had invited Janeane Garofalo to the Dallas Tea Party. Garofalo, as you might recall, had the audacity to describe Teabaggers as a “bunch of racist rednecks” and Katrina wanted to show Janeane that her description was not accurate and that the Teabagging movement had nothing to do with race. (Yeah, right, uhuh!) Well, Katrina is back and surprise, surprise, she isn’t going to allow her son to listen to the this president – as opposed to say, George W Bush whose school address wasn’t a problem! And to let the folks know where she stands on health care, Katrina wore a tee shirt with “National Health Care, A Lethal Injection,” across the breast area. After Clayton Morris said that she wasn’t keeping her son out of school; but asking for a hallpass, she explained that her school district has an opt-out program (isn’t that what Texas wants to do with its place in the US?) Morris read White House Press Secretary Robert Gibb’s statement about the “silly season.” The chyron read “A Hall Pass On Obama Speech.” She replied that the “issue isn’t that we don’t want the President of the United States to address our children” (Uh, yeah, it is!) “the issue is “do you trust this person.” Lil Katrina got to spew standard radical right wing lies about Obama – he has “ continuously demonized American citizens…surrounded himself with a bunch of thugs, criminals and convicts and the exact same president who insists on allowing his administration to call American citizens names.” Rather than rebut these charges, Morris read more of Gibbs statement that the address is about encouraging kids to work hard and stay in school and asked Katrina if she didn’t want her son to hear that message. She yammered on about “do you trust this administration” and spewed more right wing, bizarro world talking points about how Obama has “bypassed every channel to get access to our children with any regard to the school districts or the school boards themselves.” (Uh, Katrina, this isn’t mandatory for schools).

To his credit, Morris cited past presidents speeches to school children and referenced how children were encouraged, at those times, to write letters asking how they can help the president. He asked Katrina if she would have opted out of those speeches and Quelle Surprise she said no because “no two presidents are the same” (Yeah, this one is black and is a Democrat). She reprised her meme of “do you trust this person” and if a parent doesn’t trust a person they won’t “give them access to their child” and spewed more radical right wing agitprop when she claimed that the speech would be a page out of Saul Alinsky’s book. (Hopefully, the “Internationale” will be played.”) Naturally she said that this will start “the indoctrination process.” Again to his credit, Morris asked her if she has received an advanced copy of the speech which has material that is different from what the White House is saying. She replied that she had the classroom activity packet.

Comment: Fox is the Teabagging Network so it’s not suprising that the coverage is a bit – ah – tilted. And with Katrina’s appearance, ya got yer Teabagger, outrage over Obama’s school speech, and outrage over Obama and ready for the home run – a “coded” shout out to Katrina’s newest Tea Party thing – “Hall Pass On That” - which is providing “advice” for other outraged parents. Although not referenced directly by Morris, the references were there. The logo for the group says that “parents determine what you learn” so I guess Pierson has no problem with Texas abstinence programs that result in one of the highest rates of teen pregnancy in the country and a curriculum that wants less Lincoln and more Gingrich. But back to the coverage – I know Morris was constrained by time; but he should have noted that her allegations against Obama were her opinion and not established fact. Instead, she was allowed to smear the president with radical right wing talking points. And always happy to provide coverage for the latest right wing obsessions is Fox News – America’s Teabagging Newsroom!!!
